DBAHO
Joel Pineiro has been superb in his last 2 outings, I still want him over Freddy Garcia. Even if it was only against the Expos tonight, he went 8 innings, giving up 1 ER with 1 BB and 8 K's. I think he's goin to hav a great 2nd half, and his season will mirror Mark Buerhle's from last year.

I really hope Kenny is able to pull the trigger by the time we're in need of a fifth starter again (The 17th, IIRC.).

I agree that they're both solid, but I don't want to rent Garcia for a few months giving up a good prospect for him. At least with Pineiro we'd hav him for a few years, and he could replace Loaiza if we couldn't resign him. Don't think the M's are in seeling mode right at this moment though, they just swept the series with the Expos, they've moved Ichiro to the #3 spot to take advantage of his clutch bat, and their pitchers are throwing much better. Wise Master Buehrle
All this Piniero talk is cool, but is he even on the M's trading block? I don't think so. I'd think another reason they're so eager to be rid of Garcia is because they no they haven't a chance at re-signing him. Piniero is there for more years to come. So then they'd basically lose Piniero and Garcia, instead of just Garcia.

They're desperate for young position players, we could give them players like Rowand, Crede etc.

Jordan4life_2007
Don't think you need an ace, you need a guy to act like an ace for a few weeks. Who was Anaheim's ace 2 years ago? Washburn? He ain't better than Buehrle. Sele? Appier? Ortiz? All average to above-average. I don't think Florida really had an ACE last year either. Beckett didn't do what he did in the playoffs all season, and Willis was a half-season rookie wonder. As cliched as it sounds, it takes a whole team, both pitching and hitting, clicking when they need to click. I totally agree with this post. Having an ace is nice. But not essential.
