Cy Young Porzio
i dont know if it was passed for sure i dont think it was but making the winner get home field advantage in the WS was passed unanimously. STUPID. then managers of the game will only play the good players or their players or something.
Chisoxfn
Heres the problem...it should be best record. Of course this will make the all star game more competitive, but remember, many of the players there could give a rats ass about where the World Series is going to be played, cause they are on crappy teams that aren't in competition. Cy Young Porzio
thats what i think, another idea on espn though was best regular season records, or the league with a better interleague play record.
UrbanaSox83
I just came up with a scary thought (this is all hypothetical, remember, not an official declaration): Sox are hot going into the ASG, Cubs are drowning in last place (ok, that's not the scary thought) But say Sammy SoSo hits a game winning homer to help the NL get WS HFA... And IF, by the grace of GOd, we get to the Series and (GOd forbid) lose Game 7, I'm sure that Bud would be getting a very very nasty letter from me! Ok, i'd better shut my mouth before I either jinx the Sox or get blasted for this crazy optimism!
whitesox247
What might be interesting would be World vs. U.S.
Mr. Showtime
The owners approved it, but the Players Association still has the final say. then managers of the game will only play the good players or their players or something. Yeah, and what manager in his right mind would want to play the good players in an All-Star Game? I don't know about you, but I watch for the s***ty players. If they do adopt this rule, then they should get rid of the every team has to have a player rule.
doubleM23
wut WOULD b interesting is WORLD vs. US...then maybe EVERYONE will actually wanna try I think the NHL proved that idea sucked. Look, baseball will never, ever have the same flair for the All-Star Game as it once did because there's not two different competing leagues as there once was. Now there's just the American Conference and National Conference (just named "League") all operating under the control of the office of Major League Baseball. To think some half-assed scheme of tying the All-Star Game to the World Series is going to suddenly make everyone a Pete Rose is ridiculous. Bud Selig, you're a f***ing moron. :fyou
witesoxfan
Here's a thought: This plan will never work (fairly) until atleast two things happen: a) The DH rule is either accepted in both leagues or is eliminated from the AL b ) There are an even amount of teams in each league....as it stands, one league will always have a clear-cut advantage, and it will most likely be the AL on the better end....every team has to be represented, and that means more crappy players going to the All-Star game for the NL. What's really sad is that Robert Fick made it last year....correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it called the ALL STAR game for a reason...meaning everyone should be a star? That rule is one of the worst in the league...I hate it as well. I wonder why the NFL's All-Pro game is more fun to watch then the MLB's All-Star game? Not ever Tiger fans thought Fick was an all-star, but then again, the Tigers didn't either, which is why they let him walk in the off season I see no reason to to change the rule about rotating home advantage between the leagues. I am not happy with the blurring of league distinctions, which is happening, but this preserves a baseball tradition that has worked since the 1900s and when has it ever been a problem? Selig again trying to fix something that is totally not broken.

You're absolutely right bout that, I'd much rather keep the alternating format, over the ASG proposal....it's the lesser of the two evils. Here's an interesting idea: ok, you have the three division champs and one wild card, seeded 1-4 (Wild card is always 4, even with a better record than a 1,2,or3) HFA can be decided by seeding. #1 will have the HFA over 2-4 #2 over 3-4 #3 over 4 In case of last year's situation, two wild cards in the series, tiebreakers could include better reg season records, division records, or even interleague records. I'm sure that this probably won't fly, but anything is better than an exhibition game deciding Game 7 of the WS.

Wow how great would that be, sammy winning the allstar game with ah home run.
