Capn12
Quite the moral dilemma Brett has now. OK, before anyone posts something like "Show some respect!!" or "Family comes first!!", hear me out. Brett always said the streak means nothing to him, while most of us disagree. We are all about to find out the truth tomorrow. Its a game the Packers DESPERATELY need, and a more important, tragic event has happened in the Favre family. Wow, it must be pulling his thoughts all different ways right now..We're thinking about ya Brett, do the right thing. Bless the Favre family in this time of need. Although, i've never lost anyone that close to me in my young life(24 years), I think I would still play. I would play in memory or honor of that particular person that died and know thats what they would want you to do. I think he should go out there and try to have the game of his life as his father im sure would want him to do. ESPECIALLY, since the Pack will not be in the playoffs if they lose this game more than likely, so your right, do the packers mean anything to him at this point in his life... Im not sure if he cares much about football
whitesoxin'
I would say he should play if his dad was old and it was an expected death, but this was a sudden, freak thing. I wouldn't be surprised if the streak is ended, but he's a trooper and will probably be there and ready.
Wise Master Buehrle
I think..... Bretts gonna go out there with a HUGE chip on his shoulder, and get tons of points. Just a prediction.
southsider2k5
Wow. Prayers to the Farve family and espesially to Brett to decide what he has to do. I couldn't imagine have to make that decesion.

The Critic
It's really easy to speculate on what someone else would do, but I have a feeling that most of us would be with our families at a time like this. I'd like to think that, anyway. I understand the loyalty to the team that Favre is showing, and I think it's admirable, but if I was a teammate and cared at all about him, I'd tell him that his family needs him and he should be there for them. I don't know if I could do my job if something that sudden and tragic happened to my family.
whitesoxin'
Just when I think I've seen it all around here.... What? All I'm saying is that it is a freak thing and unexpected. My neighbor, for example, died a few weeks ago. She was old and had been in the hospital for a very long time. She had a long bout with cancer, and she finally lost the battle after a long and hard struggle. It was known that she was gonna die since the idiot doctors said she had 6 days to live but she went on for 3 months. Brett Favre's dad is an instance that is very hard to think about. It is a lot like how my dads dad, my grandpa, who I never met died. He just drove off the road with his dog and died. It was not known how he veered off, because there was no traffic or anything, and the autopsy revealed nothing. I did not mean to offend you, and if I did I apologize. I guess I just have the mindset that a death - knowing it's coming or not - is always very hard. I'm sure his decision was tough, but the circumstances, IMO, have very little to do with anything. No harm.
Gene Honda Civic
My two cents: I think Brett is making the best descision for himself, his family, and his teammates, in that order. Speaking from experience, as an athlete having to deal with the recent death of a loved one, The best therapy for me was going out and competing. It gave me the chance to get my mind off of things and just escape. After the event was over I remember just collapsing in a heap of tears, but that day, that performance, I always look back on with the fondest memories. I performed at a level that I would never reach again, and I have to attribute it to being with the spirit of a loved one. You have to put things in perspective. The guy grew up playing catch in the backyard with his father. I'm sure he just wants to go out there one more time and play catch tonight. I have no doubt, watching this guy perform over the years, that he will go out there and have a stellar performance tonight.
BrandoFan
I don't know if I could do my job if something that sudden and tragic happened to my family. I would be just crushed, pacing back and forth, chanting something, thinking about evetthing and nothing, about life and memories over and over....and crying my ass off unstoppably eventually. Incapacitated for at least month and generally grieving for a year or three..... f*** work, f*** the streak. Soul-less Americans, working the next day, almost relieved not to be dealing with annoying parent anymore. "Suffering doesn't teach you anything"? f*** you Veeck. I better call my parents again even tho i spoke to them like yesterday. Life is short.
Queen Prawn
Soul-less Americans, working the next day, almost relieved not to be dealing with annoying parent anymore. " Soul-less is the company I last worked at. One of the engineers I worked with lost his mother-in-law and brother-in-law months apart and would only give him one day a piece inspite of the fact he worked for the company 20+ years. He ended up having to use vacation time to help his wife to take care of things. It's corporate America that is soul-less more than the general population, or so it seems to me. Yeah, i would say... Only 250 Yards and 3 Td's in the 2nd quarter still.... In my semifinals for fantasy, i have a 44 point lead, and im playing favre, who would need about 5 td's and about 350 to catch me... well, now im starting to get very nervous... whitesoxin'
He had a 158 passer rating in the first half. That is outstanding. If your rating could get higher, Brett's would have. He should have 5 tds but his reciever dropped one on the first play in the 3rd quarter.

southsider2k5
Damn the guy is the Michael Jordan of the NFL. You put adversity in his face, and he responds with an incredible game.
Capn12
Bravo Brett....Thoghts and prayers were and still are with you. You went out, let your focus be the game you play for 3+ hours, and excelled like few others could have in teh face of such adversity. I've always been a Favre fan, and a Packers fan (hate me if ya want).....I'm proud to be one now, and always will be. Now the grieving time can be the focus as it should be.
