Queen Prawn
Are any of you traveling for the holidays? I'm lucky when it comes to traveling - 15 minutes north for Christmas Eve and 15 minutes northwest for Christmas Day - no planes or trains for me, just automobiles. If so, will the raised terror alert alter how you travel or anything you do while traveling? How much attention do all of you heed these warnings? Do all of you think that with the raised alerts and then nothing happening, that we will have the 'crying wolf' mentality and then not pay attention to them? Brian and I heard the warning last night in a news 'commercial' while surfing the channels after a hard day of furniture moving - a great big 'You Rock' goes out to my brother for helping all day and not b****ing once . Anyhow, we heard the warning, but not sure if there is anyway we can be more careful. How do all of you respond to the heightened terror warnings? southsider2k5
Makes no differnce to me. As a matter of a fact, I would be willing to bet that nationwide, no one really cares, and won't care unless an attack happens again.

To some degree, outside of being observant, there really isn't much an average citizen can do. By observant, I don't mean accusing everyone and their brother (or sister) of something either. Rex Kickass
This is a great big "Who cares?" for most of the people I talk to. Of course, I now live 60 miles from the nearest city of any consequence (Grand Rapids)... so unless someone's gonna bomb the fields near my apartment, I ain't worried. Texsox
If the terrorist decided to attack the Rio Grande Valley they would be so dissapointed. It would take the networks 2 days to find the place and then they couldn't tell what was damaged by a blast and what just is that way. Now if I was working in the Sears Tower, I may be a little more nervous. I wonder how attendance in the sky deck is doing.

The key to winning the fight against terrorism isint bunker busters or lots of tanks and troops, its average people having situational awareness. If people are paying attention to whats happening around them they can help spot suspicious activity and raise an alert before anything bad can happen. It all starts with you. Flash Tizzle
Now if I was working in the Sears Tower, I may be a little more nervous. I wonder how attendance in the sky deck is doing. I would be too. Midway Airport is less than 15 miles away from the Sears Tower......and if a plane was ever hijacked there is no way a jet could be scrambled in time. But as far as the sky deck, I have to imagine its still doing well. When I went over the summer for the first time it was packed. Though it can make you a little nervous watcing planes flying around the loop. Junior year in high school (when 9/11 occured) my teacher in architecture said that if similar planes hit the Sears Tower it wouldnt completelycollapse unless you hit below the first fifty stories....and thats nearly impossible to do because of the surrounding buildings.
