Guest wsc425
I was just wondering why you guys don't like Olivo? Now please, I don't want a heated arguement here. I'd just want to know why you favor Bradford over Olivo.
HawkDJ
I think its just because he hasn't proved himself yet, he is still a prospect. But either way I like this trade. A good catcher prospect is more valuable to me than a reliever. Relievers are easily replaced.
Guest wsc425
Yeah, and we had people coming up, that is why Kenny traded for Gary Glover. Or was it Shueler who traded for Glover? I dunno, good trade nevertheless.

Jim Fainter
Bradford has done pretty well for the A's, for a non-closer. They seem to like him. We'll see how he does this year, but his ERA has been good. The other thing I remember about him is that, right after we traded him, he was on the mound against us with the game on the line, and Paul Konerko hit one about nine miles to win the game. Useless trivia.
LDF
how bout a cork bat, not being able to hit his weight and most importantly a lot of hype, can he live up to that hype?

I haven't heard anything about a corked bat, can you fill me in? in the AA all star game in ' 01 , olivo's bat shattered and cork went flying everywhere..thus the nickname "corky" was born... corky olivo sound pretty cool:) its not that we who liked bradford didnt or dont like olivo...its just that in '01 we were supposedly in a win now mode and our bullpen went to s***...regaurdless of the optimism, our bullpen is shaky at best right now..we could use a chad bradford...though we can use a catcher too...i wonder if we didnt have olivo would we be seriously pursuing IROD??? Guest hotsoxchick1
.i wonder if we didnt have olivo would we be seriously pursuing IROD??? NOOOOOOOOO. we wouldnt.. we would be stuck with johnson and paul behind the plate, with alomar mentoring both of them if we didnt have olivo here........olivo will do just fine here... youll see... and despite what ldf thinks olivo can hit not only his weight for avg. but ldf's as well.......olivo is not clayton.........and besides olivo has a great arm...will be nice for a change to have someone who can actually connect to second to stop advancing runners ......and hes fast.... just hope he doesnt bat very close to paulie cause that lard ass will slow poor miguel down........ Thanks for the info, and yes Corky Olivo does have a nice ring to it. I just hope HSC is right and the guy does well. As long as his defence is as adveratised and he is not a total bust offensively I'll be happy.

Same here I'm excited to see Olivo for the whole season. Its so good to have a catcher who can run and play good defense with his arm. I think time is the only thing against Olivo. Its gonna be exciting to have Pudge like defense behind the plate and speed like Jason Kendall all from the cathcer position.
Jim Fainter
Stop talking about Corky's speed. KW will order JM to put him in the outfield.
