The sox suck

Recommended Posts

Alright, I Think its time to just start a rant thread cause im getting tired of seeing the same threads pop up on how the sox arent doing anything, and everyone else is. Lets just put it one thread, and save the space.

It looks like someone is confident in our sox  Why don't we wait until at least this month ends. Usually this is the month KW makes some moves.

I agree were horrible... why bother playing the f***ing season! lets just put a big sign at the cell that says ....... WE SUCK ALL WE HAVE IS JUAN URIBE YOU WIN!!! and we'll be done with it.

Lets not forget that this offense is still REALLY potent, and with possible big contributions for Big Joe Borchard and quite possibly Jeremy Reed it's prolly gonna be as good or better than it was last year.

Pitching is a question mark.... but it is for alot of teams and we have some possible solutions coming up from AAA and it's still only the 4th of January... so we have time to find someone.

Lets all relax, let kenny work on getting us a winner and wait until were mathematically eliminated to bash this team.

STFU Hawk. :fyou

I don't give a s*** if the White Sox do suck. The Marlins sucked going into the season last year, and the Angels sucked the year before that. Stranger s*** has happened before, and flukes can occur.

And even if we do suck, we will free up a ton of money for 2005. Koch will be off the hooks, Maggs off the hooks, Valentin off the hooks, and maybe Konerko has a good enough season where we can get something of value for him. That would be $33 million off of our payroll. We then have enough to resign Esteban and to go into the FA market and actually get some good players.

As an honest question to everyone on the board, who really cares if we do suck this year? I personally won't care all too much. If we do, we have some white flag trades, we get some value for the likes of Maggs, Valentin, Koch, Konerko, and maybe even Esteban(and a situation similar to that of the Ponson in Baltimore thing comes up and we try to resign him after the season). Won't hurt my feelings at all. And I'm still not sold that we'll suck. I don't think we'll win the division, but 75-80 wins is doable.

Right on witesoxfan. I think I posted something like that about the marlins on another thread ;) Anyways, I actually think we do have a shot at our weak division. Our offense hasn't lost a step (if maggs is still here and if konerko can come back to form) and our pitching can go up against any of our division rivals. But you cant hate douters (The Hawk) even if we feel they are not true fans. I think the sox should silence the critics and just play their game on the field. :headbang

Wise words Mark. All I know is I need to stop expecting a big move and just sit back and pay attention to other sports until baseball season gets closer.

The Sox will probalby sign a few guys to the minimum with some incentives and call it an offseason. I wouldn't look for a big move out of them, unless it involves dealing Magglio.

I think I'm going to be interested in seeing how the youngsters do during spring and druing the season cause they will have to step it up.

I love this team, but i'm kinda growing sick of the same crap year after year. Reinsdork crying about attendance but doesn't wanna make the team better and spend a few Penny's. I'm sick of Reinsdorf and the sad thing he's not gonna go away unless the fans really boicot his ass. Every Offseason the fat f*** is saying we gotta stick to a 55 million dollar payrolll... Dammit it's f***ing chicago for crying out loud.... The Indians got bad and Reinsdork goes.... Ohhhhh Now my Sox will win by Default and i don't have to spend.... But here goes the Twins... and what happens??? Yeah you guessed it.. Now this year the Twins have fallen some and Reinsdork thinks we win by Default.... Wrong again Cheapo, Here come the Royals and on and On. Next the Lowly Tigers will get better and the Sox... Still at 55 Million.. There's no hope with Uncle Scrooge in town.. Thanks Jerry, Maybe you're like the aztecs who thought that when you die you take everything with ya!!!

:fyou Dam fat pig. Go spend your money on Viagra asshole.. Not that you get any...

Thanks for making loyal fans go through the sme s*** every year. I guess my Trip to chicago won't be happening soon. I'm not going to spend hard earned money and almost a 1000 buscks just to get there to see Crap.

Thanks, Cheapo :fyou

Yeah that really f***ing sucks. Plain and simple. I'd like to wait for the offseason to finish. That's the dwindling optimist in me speaking.

What we need is a 4th starter and possibly some middle relief help. Aside from that we really have a strong team and IMO we dont really need anymore.

The offense from top to bottom is powerful as hell and we have 3 quality starters. Where else are we weak besides what I mentioned?

Exactly, a guy like Moss, Ponson etc. who can come in and be that 3rd or 4th starter and win at least 10 games will make this team much, much betta. It'll take pressure of da pen and not force a 4 man rotation.

We STILL need a solid LH RBI man. Have needed that since 2000.

From time to time, you have to take the step to actually play the young guys to see exactly what you have.

As of now we're low on pitching, both starting and relieving. If you're excited about Willie Harris at 2B and Aaron Rowand at CF then I don't know what to tell you. Miguel Olivo hasn't proved he can hit. Will Konerko bounce back? Will Frank sulk all year because he doesn't like Ozzie? Did ELO have his Steve Stone type of year or will he remain effective? The Sox are thin at too many positions and iffy at some others. They look like a .500 or slightly or below team to me. Yes, the games have yet to be played and if they prove me wrong then great.

I think that we need to find a better leadoff hitter than Willie Harris, and this team is fine. If Frank sulks, Frank Sulks... I dont think he's the key to this team. Billy Koch and Paul Konerko are. If the sox are going to have a productive team in 04 they need to have Billy Koch saving games and Paul Konerko hitting bombs and playing first. They are big "ifs" but i think this is a case where I think letting these guys work their problems out is better than trading them away and watching them flourish with another organization.

saying "we suck" is pretty bold to say when you still have Valentin Thomas Ordonez Konerko Lee and Crede in the line-up, a 20-game winner, a left-handed all-star pitcher, and one of the best lefty relievers in the game today, not to mention a spark plug manager who could be just what the doctor ordered. Suck? we don't suck... were just a giant question mark right now.

Agree Murcie, and the offseason has a long way to go. But it's very frustrating watching the days pass with not a word. I said some very unkind things about the Sox this past week. They "suck" is tame compared to my words...

Every year in recent memory, except 2000, this team stumbled out of the gate. Then about July, they all decided the weather was warm (or whatever lightbulb clicked) and decided that they needed to play some baseball.

I think with this team, questionmarks and all, it's all about the start to the season. If they play well through May 15, no matter what their roster says, it'll give them confidence and they'll do well. If they're doing well, and near or at the top of the division, KW will make trades to fill in gaps to make us competetive toward and maybe even for the post-season.

It's going to be all about the attitude coming out of the gates this year, IMO. The Royals started off like firecrackers last year and faded in September because they didn't have the horses to finish the race. The Sox have better ponies then the Royals had last year. (I'm not talking about 04 Royals - this is going to be a better team but still I like our chances if we can play well early in the season).

It's going to be tough, no doubt about it. But confidence can go a long way, and we'll see if Ozzie can be a better motivator then "Peace" Manuel.

The year the Sox signed Lofton (2002, i think, my memory is still clogged with egg nog) The Sox got off to a really hot start for the first few weeks of the season. Then they went into the tank until they were out of contention, and then started to play well at the end.

The one big problem I can see coming already with Oz is that he is going to piss some people off. He has already said some stupid s***, that maybe you can get away with as a player, but not as a manager. I get the feeling we are going to see a full clubhouse rebellion at some point this year, if Oz doesn't QUICKLY learn to shut his mouth at key times.

I do think we can win the division, but I also think my daughters T-Ball team from last year could win this division. My problem is I believe we will be dead in the water come post-season. But that has been the case for a few years.

I was looking forward to getting excited about the offseason and all the killer moves the Sox were going to make. Instead no great moves are made, and all I have to look forward to is watching my fave team play ball, as every year. That's pretty good, but I am not expecting them to take the league by storm. Maybe this is a good thing. Last year we were all expecting to end up with a title. This year there are no expectations, so we won't be on anybodies "biggest letdown" lists.

Love the team, disappointed so far by the offseason, and am holding out hope that we can still put together a cranking season. I'll be watcing from my couch, and from different seats in the parks, and listening from my car when needbe, but I will be there the whole stretch, as in every year. And if we lose 100 games this year, the following year you will find me in the same places. :D
