maggsmaggs
The Sox are close to signinig Cliff Politte to a one year deal. We knew this, but it had yet to be confirmed in the paper.
winninguglyin83
if he's healthy, he can help as a set-up guy. No word on another starter?

WSFAN35
Is Damian Moss signed yet? Damian Moss won't be coming to the Sox. But it's ok, we've got Scott Schoenweis...
mac9001
I don't get why people are so high on Damian Moss, he's 27, he's had one fluk season and it's not like he has good stuff or great control. At this point he's no better than Scott Schoenweis.
winninguglyin83
Agreed. Damien Moss would give up 30-plus homers at Comiskey
WSFAN35
Agreed. Damien Moss would give up 30-plus homers at Comiskey If Scho starts, he'll be giving up plenty more than 30 homeruns this season
CSF
The Chicago Tribune late on reporting Sox news???? No, really?
Bighurt52235
I'm not too excited about signing this guy, but at least they are doing something.
mac9001
If Scho starts, he'll be giving up plenty more than 30 homeruns this season To be fair Scho has never been a guy to give up a lot of HR's, only 3 in 64.2 innigs last season and he's never given up more than 21 in a single season. witesoxfan
I'm not too excited about signing this guy, but at least they are doing something. Low-risk, high reward. If Politte pitches well, we get a steal. The guy has a 96-98 MPH heater....that's pretty damn good.

Pastime
The big question is this: Which major offseason acquisition will propel the Sox to the division title? Pollite or Uribe? Wow, that's a tough one. I say Uribe.
Loaiza21
You guys really didn't have any idea on how this guy pitches, but it sounds nice. "Pitching & Defense Politte could mature into a closer. He has excellent command of an overpowering four-seam fastball that is clocked regularly at 96 MPH and goes up to 98. He hits both sides of the plate, up and down. His slider runs 88-90 MPH, and he works in a two-seam fastball and a changeup. In his few chances, he showed well as a fielder. He is quick to the plate with a simple delivery and can get the ball home in 1.2 seconds, which should make him difficult to run on." -ESPN PLAYER PROFILE I like the 98 MPH fastball.
