Here is what the Mets have done:

major deals before 2002 season:

Trade for Mo Vaughn (who became highest paid NL player) Result: Disaster.

Sign Roberto Alomar. Result: Semi-disaster (depends on how Ring does)

Sign Roger Cedeno. Result: Disaster.

Sign Pedro Astacio. Result: Disaster.

Trade for Jeremy Burnitz. Result: Disaster.

major deals before 2003 season:

Sign Cliff Floyd. Result: Injury plagued '03 season.

Sign Tom Glavine. Result: Sub-par season.

Sign Mike Stanton. Result: Sub-par season.

Major deals before 2004 season:

Sign Kazuo Matsui.

Sign Mike Cameron.

Sign Brandon Looper.

Problems with incumbents:

Mike Piazza is injury prone and is playing worse each year.

Al Leiter is old, and streaky.

John Franco is 44.

Why their is hope.

Jae Wong Seo, pitched well.

Jose Reyes played well before injuring his ankle.

Jason Phillips hit .298.

Ty Wiggington showed promise.

There is my summary of the New York Mets.

Too bad for Mets Management . They spend all this $ on big time FAs (vaughn, alomar) made fans belive they had a hell of a team ( I thought they did two) and  believed they could of went back to the world series, and it turned out to be a living nightmare.

Are you sure we should give KW a bunch of money to spend??

Same thing could happen, which would cripple this franchise.

Rex,

Some times I wonder that question myself. What if the Sox had a Mo Vaughn, Darren Driefort, or so many other free agents who were overpaid.

Maybe the Sox management is right in trying to play for the All-Star break and making moves then.

Atleast that way if we went through a horrendous streak of injuries in the beginning we would not of wasted money on that season.

Who knows, I just hope for the best, and hope that our players play to their level and then everything will work themselves out.

I thought he was traded to the Mets from Cleveland. I forget for who but I believe it was a young 5 tool OF. Alex Escobar?

Your right, nice job picking that up. It was Escobar and I believe a pitcher (schrieber or something like that).

The Mets also got Jason Middlebrook from the Tribe I think.

I knew he wasn't going to play this season; I know that was announced.

It could have been old news, but ESPN.com just had a new article posted today that he is OFFICIALY done. :huh ...Sorry if I'm posting old news, I didn't mean to do that.

No big deal to me... Just bumped the one from the begining of the month so they could merge.

Who cares? To me he hasn't played for the last 3 so what the hell is the difference. ANd how does this even affect the White Sox? Again, who cares?

If you didn't care about the thread, why select it?
