How young is too young?

Here's the situation, I'd like to get the take of the members of the board.

I work at an office supplies store, which directly in front of, there is a Skyline Chilli. Sometimes during breaks I go into Skyline to eat or with another employee just to sit and talk. Anyhow, there's a girl that works in there that always talks to me everytime I go in there. It's pretty damn obvious she wants me to talk to her whenever I go in there. So today I was talking to this girl and I think to myself, I wonder how old this girl actually is. So I ask her and she says 17. Now all along I thought she was 18 or 19, but 17, that's awful young.

So I went back in there later on and she starts talking to me again and asks how old I am and I tell her (21) along with telling her I'm too old for her. She replies with no you're not and just gives me this look. At this point one of my co-workers who happens to be female is in there with me just looks at me then I leave because my break was over. So my co-worker comes back and tells me that once I left this girl wouldn't shut up about me. So anyway to make a long story short, how young is too young? This girl is hot, don't get me wrong, but she is 17. What's a kid to do?

Depends if u like her or not I guess. 4 years ain't that much of a difference really, she's obviously got the hots for ya. I'd get to know her a bit more and then make a move if u r still interested.

I don't really know her, there's no way to tell that really unless I went out with her, but I dunno whether or not that would even be right. I am attracted to her but there's no way to tell if I like her at this point.

21 and 17 are definately acceptable age differences imo...especially if she is working (im guessing she works full time since she working during lunch hours)...id take it slow though..you dont need the cops showing up on a statutory rape charge

She doesn't work full-time, she works at night. I work at night too, as I'm in college.

Well, I don't personally think 17 is too young. Although you got to be careful about the whole statutory rape bit. I think 21/17 is pushing it, soley because she is pretty young, but I don't see the big deal. Its 4 years and by 17, you should be able to pick and chose who you go out with. I've never understood why it is statutory rape if like an 18 year old has sex with a 17 year old. They could be like 3 days apart and its still rape. Thats pretty bogus to me.

Technically, depending on your state it's only statutory rape if there is more than 4 years difference and the person is above the age of consent. So, it would be VERY difficult to prosecute 17 and 21, because 1, she's over the age of consent (probably) and 2.) it's less than your typical 4 years. Again, if you're serious about persuing the relationship I would check out the sex laws, but that's what it is in MOST states...Just remember people: 4 years of jailbait.

Oh, and no, I don't date underage men I just work do a lot of work with the courts and this stuff in MN, so I know a lot of their laws, and most states have similar laws. But I would check out yours Aboz....

I know in my state, California, there is no exception. My friend got busted on it. He was going out with the girl for like 3 years and well got caught, but the parents of the girl didn't press charges. One 18 the other 17. It was a bunch of bs, imo.

California has a lot of dumb laws though.
