MSU will almost certainly lose Davis. I have little doubt of that. Hill and Torbert might think about leaving early, but that would be a terrible idea for either. MSU will have the same problems they have had this year. Little depth up front and no true PG, which is why I think they will be a little below the top 3 of Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana.

It isn't so certain that Davis is going to leave. There was alot of talk about it before the season (when we were suppose to be good), but he just hasn't had a good enough season to leave yet. He disappears in too many games. If we can get a PG, we will be very good. Torbert and Hill should stay, and Ager, Brown, and Anderson are okay.

If Davis leaves, Izzo is going to be questioned, big time. There was an article in the MSU newspaper about Izzo coming up to winning his 200th game. It mentions coaches not being at one team for a ton of years anymore, and it was lead by the phrase 'What have you done for me lately.' I guarentee that the higher ups here will be mad that we lose so many student-athletes and all the drug problems that MSU athletics have.

There are guys who don't have great years and get drafted high in the NBA all the time just based on potential. Zach Randolph, Corey Maggette and William Avery are all examples of guys who didn't really have great years in college before they went pro and they were all first round picks. The NBA draft is about potential these days, not about what kind of numbers you put up in college.

This NCAA season is crazy.  Let us discuss how there is no favorite this year, and this tourney should be special.

Who are you final four picks as of now?

My picks before the season were..

Louisville, Missouri, Arizona, & (kansas) -- Not sure about that last one.

I still wouldn't be the least bit surprised if those were the teams there.

My picks as of Today,

Louisville, Duke, Stanford, (Some team from the Big 12)

I had State winning with the 'Zags, 'Zona, and someone else.

I will go with Duke, Louisville, Kentucky, St. Josephs.

This is probably the wrong year to pick an all big 10 final 4 huh???

Lol... if 4 even make it... Ill say UConn, St. Joes, Stanford, and my sleeper is Texas Tech... I think Knight has got an experienced bunch that is playing damn good right now.

Illinois ill have getting to the round of 32 and then losing.... Wiscy is the big 10's best shot, ill say elite 8 for them. Mich St probably goes to the sweet 16, Izzo refuses to lose b4 then.

go illini!

Great post.  We really won't be bad at all next year.  I agree on about everything you said except for Bracey.  Bracey is our MVP, but he's not ready to be considered a pro.  I see him coming back, at the least for his junior year and POSSIBLY his senior year.

Ah BTW...I'm in town, where Hardy plays.  He's 17 points away from the city season scoring record, and we're only in early Feb! :o Also, he's 6'7''.

Grease I totally agree with you about Wright. The last two weeks have shown me he isn't ready. Illinois and Purdue just totally shut him down. What is the NBA going to do him?

I unfortunately think that Wright is going pro after this year. His major knock is that he is only 6'2, which is small for a SG in the NBA. Its not likely that he is going to grow taller if he stays another year. This year he is the go to guy, and has gotten the attention and hype. He is also putting up decent numbers. Scouts can tell that this guy can flat out shoot the ball, which will help his draft statis. I think his stock is as high as it is going to be so he SHOULD probably go after this year. If he stays for next year he probably won't get as many shots and won't be the focus(with a bunch of instant impact freshman coming in) on offense, which will probably hurt his stock. He isn't as certain as Davis when it comes to leaving(wasn't included in the most recent mock draft), but I have a feeling that he will leave.

WSoxShuf, I am not suggesting that they won't be good because they aren't ranked in the top 25. There are some top 25 recruits that struggle, and some recruits that aren't highly thought of that turn into stars, but the rankings are usually fairly accurate.

You mentioned Duke getting of those top recruits, and end up contradicting yourself. Duke is a perfect example of a team that regularly gets top 25 recruits and almost always is a contender for the championship, despite the fact that a majority of them leave early. They keep retooling with talented top recruit freshman that step in from day 1 and contribute.

SuperSteve, if I were an odds maker I would say that Davis has about a 10% chance of returning to MSU next year. He hasn't had a good season??? He is averaging 16.4 PTS, 6.4 REB, .533 FG%, .789 FT% and has become the obvious go to guy. He has improved across the board, including more then double his PTS from last year. Whats even more impressive is that he is averaging over 16 PTS and 6 REB in under 30 minutes a game. If he thought about leaving after his freshman year, than what is going to stop him from leaving now that he has improved across the board? I recently read an article that said he is all but gone after this year, and in the recent mock draft he was included. As whitesoxfan99 points out, a lot of the draft is based on potential. At a legit 6'10 250 lb he has the size that scouts drool over. He also has the inside and outside game that scouts love in big man. He has a ton of potential, is a big man, and is putting up some pretty impressive numbers. If you put your bias to the side you will be able to read the writing on the wall. Davis will not be wearing green and white next year.

If they get a PG? That is a huge IF. They are bring in 1 guard this year, but he is suppose to be more of a SG rather then a PG. With Davis gone and no true PG, MSU will probably be middle of the pack next year.

My original Final 4 was UConn, Texas, Florida, and Missouri. It turns out that my Final 4 list could as serve as a list of the most disappointing teams in college basketball. My new Final 4(subject to change) is:

UConn - The most talented team(on paper) in college basketball

Stanford - These guys just win, however they will be 1 game short of an undefeated season

Duke - Very talented, but if Reddick goes cold so does Duke

Wake Forest - They have the 3 key ingredients to get there: a great PG(Paul), a dominating low post threat(Williams), and a good sharp shooter(Gray)

National Champs: UConn

Well, Memphis pulls off an upset at home against #6 Louiville, who i think was overreted to begin with, and in Madison today, Devin Harris scores 37 points to beat the winless(in big 10 play) Gophers. Harris has been going off since he scored his previous career high against Illinois 2 weeks ago. And illinois SOS goes a little higher since we beat Memphis ealiar in December...

Anyone else notice that Louisville has now lost twice since the Pitino health scare? I wonder if they are having focus problems...

:bang Shoot, I forgot that was on..

Its ER night

The first half was all Duke, but the score got close to close the half 42-37 Duke....

It got really interesting in the 2nd half going back and forth and a lot of tie scores...and right now UNC is starting to gain momentum....They're up 69-64 w/ 4:10 left....

Duhon goes the distance of the court and hits the layup w/ 10 seconds left...and wins 83-81 in OT....Turned out to be a great game....

Duke stays perfect in the ACC, while UNC falls to 3-5 in the conference. :o

Damn what's da deal with Duke. Christian Laettnar, Grant Hill, Jay Williams, gotta be a curse or sumthin.

Don't forget Bobby Hurley.

On a side note, I just saw this box score from Al Jefferson who is regarded by many as the #3 HS player in the country. He scored 62 pts, had 22 rebounds, and blocked 11 shots. Just had to share that.

Which college is he goin to? Or is headed straight for da draft like Dwight Howard and Livingston mite?

He signed with Arkansas.  My guess is that he, Livingston, Josh Smith, and Dwight Howard are all lottery picks and that they will all go pro.

Orlando could be hot for Livingston. With no real good big's besides Podzolkine who's a huge risk, I think they'll go for Livinston or Okafor if they trade Howard and Gooden.
