SoxAce
Very nice signing by the Padres. Them, Baltimore, and the Angels should be fun to watch this year by their significent improvements.
DBAHO
I saw they were very interested in him, and he's a good signin for them. If they end up tradin Cirillo and Gonzalez for Jason Kendall it will hav been quite an offseason for Kevin Towers to say the least.

It's Cirillo and Hernandez for Kendall...personally I would keep Cirillo and Hernandez and let Ramon (an AS catcher) catch and Cirillo come off the bench and play some 3B, 1B, and teach him some of the OF. Oops I knew it was one of their 2 catchers, just wasn't sure which 1.

DBAHO
Isn't everybody glad we're not in the AL East or West now.
C.Rector
Why would the Sox want to get another outfielder when the team already has a surplus of outfielding talent with more coming up in the minors?
witesoxfan
Why would the Sox want to get another outfielder when the team already has a surplus of outfielding talent with more coming up in the minors? Payton was more or less in the same boat as Juan Gonzalez, as in, he would be signed had Lee/Maggs been traded and a good OFer not gotten in the trade. YASNY
I'm thinking that the Padres may be getting serious about winning the NL west this year. They really made some major moves to improve the club.
