cwsox
actuallky he doesn't strike me that way I think the competitive fires burn really deep in him questions may be with his tenure (is it money? bad judgment? other GMs don't like him? not much out there we can use if we know the whole story?), but I think he lusts to be a winning GM just because I think he lusts to win
Soxbadger
You can call KW stupid, say he makes mistakes, and perhaps he does not have the collective iq of a pack of rats... But to say that he just tries to get by shows that you havent been paying attention to his tenure. You dont try and get by trading for Colon. You dont get by trading for Alomar, Everret, and Sullivan. And for that matter, 90% of this board was b****ing how Alomar and Everret sucked when we got them, and now 90% of this board is b****ing how we didnt keep them. It can not be both ways, that is not logical. It is either: 1) Alomar and Everret suck, we should not of traded for them, but atleast KW cut his losses and did not resign them or 2) Alomar and Everret were good acquisitions, and it was bad for us to let them go. The argument that: Alomar and Everret were bad trades, but we should resign them anyways would make KW a bad GM. KW wants to win, and thats all you can ask for. If we want a brilliant tactical mind we should not be hiring Baseball players in the first place. It always makes me wonder why a team does not hire a Lawyer to be their GM, as they would actually have knowledge of Contracts, Arbitration, etc, and could deal with Agents on equal footing. I mean, I would take Abraham Lincoln to do my negotaiting over Tony Gwynn, just like I would take Gwynn hitting over Lincoln. The whole insider system of baseball is amazing, and I wonder when a team will take a shot at getting some one who is an actual bad ass negotiator as compared to some one who played for a few years. jasonxctf
im talking of the KW of 2004. the sox just missed getting into the playoffs last year.. what has he done to make the team better to get in this yr? the cubs just missed getting into the WS last year and I can certainly tell you what they did to make themselves a better team for 2004. Soxbadger
The Cubs also have a $90mil payroll compared to the White Sox's payroll of $58mil. The White Sox need to be compared to the Tigers, Twins, Marlins, etc. Other teams that can not win by purely outspending the competition. Money wins 4 out of 5 times, but it is clear Reinsdorf is banking on trying to win that 1 other time, like the Marlins, Angels, etc. SB
Kid Gleason
I just keep getting the feeling that KW is a frustrated man who is losing his fire and care. I get the feeling he is hoping that Ozzie will not only light fires under the teams butts, but also his own. I get the feeling that ownership doesn't really know what it wants. We had a great base for the team going last year, all we really needed to do was secure a few of the players we had last year, get a few other names, show teh team that the idea was to win, and I think we would have come out of the corner swinging. As is now, I don't think the team will have the same fire we could have had. I just get the feeling that KW watched what he was building get sent away, and now his heart isn't where it should be. baggio202
its been pretty obvious from his first trade with toronto and how screwed up that was that he doesnt have the skills for the job...im not saying he isnt intelligent../just because youre smart doesnt mean you qualified to do every job there is...KW just doesnt have the skills to be sucsessful in this job...i believe its that simple...this line of work isnt cut out for him..
