SnB
Smith just doesn't impress me. The ram's defense hasn't been stellar, but hey....what do i know?
Chisoxfn
Yeah good choice in TV... I'm not convinced... The coordinators make or break this Hire. Agreed...I'm waiting to see if the rumors are true and they are going to steal Linehan away from the Vikes.

Goldmember
sox year is looking worse & worse by the minute . . . bulls really suck . . . the 'hawks have more problems than both teams combined. . . and the bears hire luvie smith . . . . . . :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou :fyou btw-- :fthecubs
DBAHO
If he can steal Fairchild or Linehan as the OC, then this will hav been a great hire for da Bears. He'll bring a lot of energy to this team.
SoxAce
Smith just doesn't impress me. The ram's defense hasn't been stellar, but hey....what do i know? You must know an awful lot cause I agree with you I wanted eigher Grimm, Levy, or spurrier(even though he quit) there. I even had a dream that Da Coach came back and won another super bowl... damn those good dreams
baggio202
i really dont know enough about him..his defenses in st louis wernt great but you'd also have to take a long at the personnel he had to work with...it could be he was getting the most out of his talent..guys like archeletta , winstrom and williams seemed to really excel under his systems..im thinking maybe he can get more out of urlacher , mike brown and our defensive line.. lets just hope he is the "ideal" candidate..itsabout time for the bears to roar again..actually was time about 10 years ago..until wanny showed up
YASNY
Smith did turn around a lousy defense into one that was good enough to win a Super Bowl (though, just by the skin of their teeth). I don't know if this guy is the answer, but he absolutely has to tough. Can you imagine growing up with a name like Lovie? (I'm hearing Johnny Cash sing "A Boy Named Sue" as I type this.) My gut reaction would be to pick Smith over Grimm, also. Spurrier? No thanks. Now, Levy would have been a great choice. I don't care how old he is. And another name I would have liked to have seen the Bears consider is Art Shell.
DBAHO
Smith will implement that cover 2 defense, and my guess is he'll turn Alex Brown into a Leonard Little type of pass rusher. But if he can get Fairchild or Linehan as an OC, then I can easily see da Bears makin da playoffs next year IF they can get sum O-Line help and another quality CB. southsider2k5
Well I think they picked the best of the two finalists, but the Bears really needed to get a guy with experience. Why fire a coach that the whole team loved and played hard for, if you are going to replace him with a guy with no experience?

Why fire a coach that the whole team loved and played hard for, if you are going to replace him with a guy with no experience? My thoughts exactly! Does this excite you more than the hiring of Jauron did 5 years ago? They should have kept Jauron for the last year of his contract.

But when did common sense ever come into play at Halas Hall?

But that stuff is usally made public by the time the new coach is hired. But the king is dead, Long life the King! When did Lovie get off the island? Lovie looks like a real excited guy and I think he could be the next big thing in the NFL. Jauron couldnt figure out offense... he made shoop his OC enough said. Atleast Lovie has some interesting possibilites for OC Terry Shea and Lienhard both could be gems.
