What I don't understand is why this was an arrestable offense.  I can give president Bush the finger and I'm not going to get arrested...

Why all the Hubbub?

You can not in Brasil.

Brasil has too be carefull of pissing off tourism. Last I looked it was an important part of the economy. 8 hour delays in processing will have many tourists flocking to other locations.

Brasil has the authority to protect their borders.

Oh god. We cry bloody murder when a pilot flips the bird, but there are millions of small, private planes (owned by wealthy citizens and businesses) that zigzag across the sky everyday, many completely untracked, landing in small, private airfields (owned by... that's right, you guessed it) that are completely unsecure.

Yeah, we're really buckling down on national security. Only when it doesn't trouble the white collars, apparently.

Why all the Hubbub?

The pilot, Dale Hersh, lifted his middle finger while undergoing a new fingerprinting and photographing process put in place Jan. 1 by Brazil as a response to similar U.S. procedures, said Francisco Baltazar da Silva, chief of Sao Paulo's federal police.

This process is made in the US when a Brazilian visits your country. Why Brazil? We have terrorists in here, no f***ing way! And why left out 27 countries?

So our country decided to do the same thing. Before he gave the finger, this idiot was making jokes about our procedure and our police. He and his crew were all laughing, disrespecing our police.

I would love to see him in jail here in Brazil...he wont be no more virgin. :finger

It´s important to the US their tourist, why do this s*** with my country? We will do the same thing! This, indirectly, is calling us terrorists.

Not a threat but a disrespect. Dont tell me that you dont know what is this  :fyou ?

That might be the biggest joke of all. The law this guy broke was "showing disrespect" to law enforcement. He could have been punished 6 months to 2 years in jail for giving cops the bird. What a crock of s***.

This is Brasil protecting their citizens from incoming terrorists from the US.

The money that the US tourists spend in here goes to prostitutes, americans just come here to spend their money with thrash (prostitute, drugs, etc.).

If they tried to throw someone in jail for flipping off police in this country we'd have to build jails the size of Chicago to accomodate all of the offenders. If Brazil feels the need to reciprocate our anti-terror measures thats all well and good with me, I have no plans to go there anytime soon.
