Chisoxfn
Its been moved to the sports bar. Anyway, I'm interested in who he's bringing in as the coaches.
WSoxShuf
Can someone answer these questions?? What is the offense we are going to run(coordinators, schemes) Do you think we have the inside track to Grant Wistrom or Warren Sapp now??? Chisoxfn
The Bears would have the money to sign one of those guys, I'd prefer Winstrom. Although I think the Bears will sign a cb and maybe go after Tait (OT) from Kansas City. As far as coordinators: Offensively it looks like it will be O'Shea (KC's qb coach) or the Rams qb coach, Fairchild. There was also some speculation that Linehan (Vikings OC) could be coming, but I don't know if thats legit. As far as the DC's go, Blache was fired today, and right now they want Marabili (Bucs Dline coach; excuse the spelling) or the Arizona Cardinals DC. Things could change though. Though the vike do seem to be able to run the ball, most of randy moss's TD's came from about the 50 yard line. I don't know if we have the recievers to throw bombs and jump balls in every offensive series. Also, I posted a link to the press conference @ 2PM(Chicago time) in the other Bears coach thread
Chisoxfn
I read it over on www.nflfans.com/bearstalk, otherwise my cousin from chicago calls me up when there is big Bears news. He knows out here I don't get much of it, lol, plus then he will make fun of the Sox (of course he's a Mets fan...which just means your as crappy as the Sox, but you spend 100 mill). I think Linehan has done a really good job, but you do bring up a good point, without Moss how effective would that offense be. There really isn't a reciever in the NFL that can make the catches he makes on those bombs. Justin Gage looks promising, but he doesn't have anywhere near the speed or playmaking ability of Moss (Man was i pissed when the Bears didn't draft him). This O'shea seems good. Some people have concerns that he isn't very qualified, but when you look at his accomplishments and compare them to what Al Saunders had done before becoming the Chiefs OC, you could say that Shea had way more experience then Saunders. Shea could turn into a pretty damn good OC. I also saw where Olsen wants to talk to Lovie Smith and Angelo to see whether they want him on the new staff. Olsen is going to recieve an offer from Mariucci today, but it would force his wife to switch jobs (She's like a big shot at Purdue or something) and although he really wants to work with Mooch, I think if the Bears said we want you back and we want you hear for the next 4 yrs, that he would be back. The Bears also want to retain Vance (Don't remember his last name) but he is the defensive backs coach. Anyone heard whether Dent is going to be brought back? And thanks for that link..I got to put the speakers on quiet at work so I can hear the press conference . Does it start at 2 central?? southsider2k5
So every coach we are looking at would be doing his job at the NFL level for the first time in his career? Just write off 2004 now
Chisoxfn
So every coach we are looking at would be doing his job at the NFL level for the first time in his career? Just write off 2004 now Well the fact that Herm Edwards has a lot of the same characteristics as Lovie Smith makes me happy. Edwards is a very good head coach and I'm starting to think Lovie Smith will be too. His defense really played agressive with the Rams and you have to think about how much better it would of ranked, had it not been on the field so much. Yes, the Rams were high scoring, but they also rarely ran the ball and didn't really dominate in the Time of Possession. They also turned the ball over a whole lot. I think the fact that his defense ranked as one of the very best in forced turnovers and defensive td's is one reason to really like him. And as far as the Bucs dline coach, he's supposed to be a pretty sharp guy and I think could become one of the next hot assistants, after a few years as a DC. The question is whether or not he comes to the Bears or Jets cause he has ties with both Edwards and Smith.
Gene Honda Civic
Some highlights of the press conference: Team Goals 1) Beat Green Bay 2) Win the Division 3) Super Bowl Offense--- Wants to run a style of offense like KC, STL, and INDY... Lots of formations motion.. create defense confusion Defense--- Run Tampa/Indy style defense -- cover 2/ rush the passer. In the Q&A session (going on right now) I'll give updates He indicated that they had guys in mind for both DC and OC --- just getting permission..Didn't name anyone specifically Indicated preference to coaches with bears connection (that was in response to a question about singeltary though) I don't think any formers bears are up for coordinators

Gene Honda Civic
Conference is cool...thanks for this feed Cheat. I lost my connection... I've missed a lot after my last post.... I can say that I wasn't a fan of the hire before the press conference... But Lovie addressed every question I had. And I have full confidence in the abilities of the organization to give him the pieces to get this team back on top.... Go Bears You can hear his reverence for Tony Dungy in his voice, in every answer. It's refreshing to see. Tony is a great coach, who probably doesn't get the gredit he deserves.... The defending SuperBowl champs were essentially his team.-- his current team is playing arguably the best football of any team right now. I liked what he said about developing both offensive and defensive lines. Developing Rex. Getting a guy to help Develop rex, and other young player. --- said he would talk to every single person still on the staff... He wants the best possible coaching staff... Lovies done --- Good Hire JA... JA's going to talk now.
Chisoxfn
I agree, i've liked what he said. Angelo is now on the podium saying he has full control of 53 and said how happy he is to be the Bears GM. But your right, seeing Smith up there, makes me feel a lot more confident. Gene Honda Civic
Notes from the JA Q&A: JA isn't half the public speaker that Lovie is said He had comtrol of final 53 players said that was an issue with some candidates essentially dispelled the Blache situation-- said he allowed him to interview with anyone-- I don't believe him money was not the issue with Saban... he made it sound like he offered him Mucho $$$... made it sound like Saban wanted control of player/personnel issues. said Lovie has FULL control over his staff said he wasn't a control freak ---- Isues I had hoped would be covered but weren't--- Major free agents/ spots to fill The draft -- i was hoping he would tip his hand about what he feels is a major need
southsider2k5
When it comes to the draft or FA's the Bears are much like KW. They won't say anything about anything because they don't want their guys taken.
