witesoxfan
This is from rotoworld on Jimmy Rollins possible future with the Phillies: Jimmy Rollins - SS - Philadelphia Phillies Jan 15 Phillies signed shortstop Jimmy Rollins to a one-year, $2.4 million contract. After going to two All-Star Games in his first two seasons, Rollins figured to make well over $3 million and probably $4 million or so in first year of arbitration. However, a year and a half of lousy hitting has changed that. It's conceivable -- though quite unlikely -- that he'll be non-tendered if he doesn't improve this season. More likely is that he'd be traded and the Phillies would make a run at Orlando Cabrera. I assume the guy can play 2B, if not, I'm almost certain Jose can. We've said that all we want is Harris to hit .250-.260, and while Harris isn't making $2.4 mill a year, he also has never had a season where he's hit .275 15 55 with a SB ratio of 46 steals, caught only 8 times. BTW, I'm talking more or less mid-season then within the next month or two.
YASNY
If this guy struggles with Philly, getting him in a deal for Valentin may be a possibility. If he doesn't struggle this year, the Phils won't move him as they will be in the thick of the race.
SuperSteve
He would play SS. He has been an AS, why would we change his position when we are not truely set at it? I would go for him, he is fast and there could be a possibility that he could lead off.
Al Lopez Ghost (old)
Well, at midseason he'd still be due 1.2 million. We don't got 1.2 million. Plus, if he's going well, next year he'd want a big fat raise, and if he's going bad, who'd want him anyway.

Trading Jose's $5 million salary for Rollins $2.4 million at midseason would work, if my math is correct.
israel4ever
Jose will DEFINITELY be traded this year...here's why. A couple years ago, I met Mike Sirotka and Jim Parque at work. They gave me a baseball that they both autographed...they were GONE by the next season. Shortly thereafter, I met Toni Kukoc...he autographed my Air Jordans...next thing you know, he's off to Atlanta. Last fall I went to a benefit for St. Viators, at which I bought an autographed picture of Jose Valentin (for $10.00, it was for a good cause though). So I figure, I have put my "kiss of death" on Jose...HE GONE!!!

southsideirish
Bill Wirtz Bob Pulford Brian Sutter Jerry Reinsdorf Jerry Angelo Mike McCaskey WHy would you get rid of Sutter and Angelo you asshole! Have you looked at what Sutter is coaching? How the hell do you expect him to win with that? Give me a break. Last year Angelo drafted Alex Brown in the 4th or 5th round and he just had the best draft the Bears have seen in a long time. Grossman, Peanut, Haynes, Briggs, Gage..... This guys seems like a great GM so far. Damn, you have to start paying better attention or get your ass out of this town. I can't stand know nothing fans like you.
