Goldmember
While doing my rounds on the net this morning i saw this post on the CBSSportsline Rumormill: Whitesox& Dodgers blockbuster trade Posted by straycats23 Jan 17, 7:34 am According to Ken Rosenthal of fox sports and sporting news radio reported that the trade will happen soon that would send Paul Korenko,Mags Ordonez, and cash to LA for Odalis Perez,Gullermino Mota,Edwin Jackson,Greg Miller and Juan Encarnion. Was wondering if anyone else heard this and what you guys think. Would definitley fit KW's rep for making big trade before Soxfest. I normally don't pay attention to the message board there but this guy named specific source.
The Critic
Hadn't heard that version of the trade yet, but honestly, at this point I really expect nothing to happen. Sounds like they just mashed all the previous rumors together to make one big giant rumor. Every indication is that LA doesn't want to give up any of their top prospects, but maybe BOTH Maggs and PK changes their minds. Don't know, and I for one am really getting bored with any rumor involving the Dodgers.
winninguglyin83
as i stated on another post, saw a fox sports show out of LA with two LA times writers yesterday. They said there a big problems with the proposed sale of the team. In fact, MLB is sending folks to LA next week to sort through the offer and see if it's a go. But their bottom line was that until the ownership thing is resolved they don't expect the Dodgers to be making any major moves. So I would be highly suspicious of this latest rumor. If that is true then that would be the 2004 version of the "White Flag Trade" and you would find many thousands more empty seats on top of all the ones we already have. Fortunately thats just a rumor.
SnB
That trade is absolutely terrible. Either trade mags OR paul, not both. If this trade goes through, we're f***ed for this season. Oh well, nothing to get worked up about over, it's not going to happen........just like everything this off-season.
aboz56
I would support this trade, but don't expect it to happen. If it were to happen, here's what our lineup and pitching would look like: CF - Rowand SS - Valentin DH - Thomas LF - Lee RF - Encarnacion 3B - Crede 1B - FA Signing Most Likely 2B - Harris C- Olivo Rotation: 1 - Buehrle 2 - Loaiza 3 - Perez 4 - Garland 5 - Jackson/Rauch/Cotts/Diaz/etc. Pen: Wunsch, Politte, Marte, Koch, Mota, whoever else makes the team It would strengthen pitching significantly, but we'd lose a big time run producer in Mags. Rex Hudler
That is nothing more than someone combining two trade rumors. I wouldn't even give it a seconds thought.

Aboz, if this trade were to go down I'd like to move Frank to 1B and sign Randall Simon to DH. He's still available right? I really am not a favorite of this trade. We should get a hell of a lot more for Konerko and Maggs. CWSOX45

YASNY
They are probably faxing the trade into the MLB offices as I type this, but I don't think this trade has any chance of happening.
SuperSteve
How much cash? I don't mind getting Encarnacion in the deal. If Mags and Kong both hit, aswell as Green, they have fixed their run problems.
maggsmaggs
This trade is good: I would support this trade, but don't expect it to happen. If it were to happen, here's what our lineup and pitching would look like: CF - Encarnacion SS - Valentin DH - Thomas LF - Lee RF - Mondesi ????? 3B - Crede 1B - FA Signing Most Likely 2B - Harris C- Olivo Rotation: 1 - Buehrle 2 - Loaiza 3 - Perez 4 - Garland 5 - Jackson/Rauch/Cotts/Diaz/etc. Pen: Wunsch, Politte, Marte, Koch, Mota, whoever else makes the team If this trade happened we should sign Modesi to a 1-year deal to give Reed a year in AAA. Mondesi would play right and then move Encarnacion to Center. Our offense wouldn't be great or good, probably average. But that bullpen and rotation is tops in our division and one of the best in the league. We also get Greg Miller (19 years old), a top 5 prospect in all of baseball and Jackson who is awesome and 22 years old. Also, this would give us salary cap room to add hitters at the deadline like Everett and Alomar last year.
Flash Tizzle
Oh well, nothing to get worked up about over, it's not going to happen........just like everything this off-season. It gets annoying when everyone ALWAYS seems to know whats going to happen and what won't. Its out of our control....and furthermore the trade makes sense when you consider Konerko is inconsistent and Maggs is in his walk year. His 14 Million dollar salary is going to be the base price for a multi-year contract and there is no way we should be him that over several years. I love the guy, but 14 million can be better spent. In the short run, as in this year, we might go through some hard times. I will still root for this team regardless of a last place finish. Hard to believe, but my uncle lives in Detroit and there are still many die-hard Tigers fans....and they're not 60 year old guys who remember the glory days of the franchise. I'll still b**** if they're terrible, but I know that this is temporary. In 05' there will be alot of money freed up to pursue free agents. Don't know all of them, but there will no doubt be alot with all the 1 year deals going around. Sox are getting quality pitchers in return. Jackson and Miller can both solitify our rotation for years to come........might not even have to wait that long to see them if there are problems in the 5th starter spot. Rex Hudler
This is the same exact thread as "If you can tolerate one more rumor" people. All that has been done is added Encarnacion, Konerko and cash to the equation. It's NOT going to happen. Unless the Sox are sending a boatload of cash, there is no way this is even realistic. And I gurantee you that the Dodgers will not give up Jackson AND Miller, IF they give up either one. All this rumor is, is the combination of two rumors. Can we not move on or at least keep it to one thread??
quickman
I would love this trade: 1) We will begin our rebuilding process and recieve great pitching in return. Jackson and Miller are terrific. 2) Frres up big money for Next year in which we will have a solid pitching staff and then we will look for free agents next year with cash to spend. 3) I hate konerko. He is overpaid and slow and hits to only one side of the park 4) first base would be split between Gload and thomas. Again rebuilding all around pitching. I would like to see what Gload can bring. Mags is gone anyway, and Konerko is overpaid.

whitesoxin'
I would be sickened if this trade happened. If it was like PK and Creede or Valentine okay, but Maggs and Konerko are just way too much to give up. Odalis Perez is overrated and Juan Encarnation does have potential but he's never put all the pieces of the puzzle together. I don't even want to think about what this team would be like if they made this trade.

upnorthsox
Sounds like they just mashed all the previous rumors together to make one big giant rumor. LOL!!! The omnibus trade rumor! Surprised they didn't include Maggs and LoDuca going to Boston from LA for Nomar and Damon. Or will that be tommorrows rumor.
Flash Tizzle
Wait a minute, I thought we started rebuilding back with the last white flag trade. Why do we need another one? Because Sox make terrible decision with contracts. Can't make many mistakes with a 60 million dollar payroll in which 14 million is devoted to one player. Freeing that money up all of the sudden gives us alot of flexibility to fill other holes on our club. This trade goes down(IF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), you can be assured that pitching will not be a problem of ours going into this season. Thats how Minnesota has won the division and thats what we need to do.....concentrate on winning AL Central.
