Elcaballo45
We have to take this game, i mean, we HAVE to win this....First off, we have to defend home court, we're gonna have to finish 7-1 at home now after that loss to Purdue last week if there are any thoughts of getting the big 10 title. Also, we have to win because Michigan is coming here soon, and then we go up to Wisconsin in a revenge game from last year(buzzer beater in Madison). Nick needs to have a big day after his subpar performance against Northwestern... And Powell, Dee, and Deron all have huge games themselves... GO ILLINI! southsider2k5
Illini win in a blowout. It is sad to have the best of the Big 10 all have a loss only 3 games into the confrence season. It might only take 5 losses to win the Big Ten this year.

southsider2k5
Sorry...I had that backwards...43-42 IOWA.... ...It's on ESPN here.... Ah, ESPN was on a commercial. I found a few other games, but I couldn't find this one. BTW how is Brody Boyd doing?
Spiff
Boyd kicked ass in the first half. I was watching that game til Duke-Wake Forest came on.

I saw the kid play HS state finals a few years back for Union Drugger HS in IN. I have been following him ever since. That was a great state finals to see. Jared Jeffries HS team played Zach Randophs HS. Also saw Sean May of UNC during his sophomore year in the 3A game.

It will be interesting to see if Wake respondsd.
Spiff
Duke is issuing a beating early. It will be interesting to see if Wake respondsd. I don't think they will. A combination of the crazies and J.J. Redick should keep them ahead the rest of the way, but then again anything can hpapen.

Also Carolina scares me as a dangerous tourney team, except for their depth. Also Arizona and Stanford of all teams.
Spiff
Who is the best team that you have seen so far this year? I think Duke might be mine. Also Carolina scares me as a dangerous tourney team, except for their depth. Also Arizona and Stanford of all teams. Yeah I was just thinking about how Duke could easily go all the way. Duhon, Redick, Deng, Dockery, Randolph, they have a ton of weapons. Carolina with the big 3 is always dangerous but like you said there's a lack of depth. If May gets in foul trouble they aren't nearly as dangerous, but the game against Illinois showed just how explosive they can be. Stanford obviously deserves some consideration being undefeated, I don't know how strong the Pac-10 is though. I do like Josh Childress, he's got the intangibles that come in handy in the tournament. Also, UConn with Brown, Gordon, and Okafor are well-equipped. Two stellar guards and a defensive/rebounding monster. Not to mention Villanueva, who they didn't have yet when they lost. Right now it's easy to say because they are ranked that way, but I think Duke and UConn are the best two. Teams like Pittsburgh and Louisville could surprise in March though. Also, UConn-UNC should be a really telling game later today. Lookin forward to that one.

southsider2k5
I did forget about Uconn But that is the interesting thing about the tourney now, is with all the kids who leave early for the NBA it makes a lot more teams darkhorses in the tourney. Spiff
Yeah, the early jumps to the assocation just highlights the importance of having senior leaders (Kansas last year), really good young players (Syracuse last year), or just a lot of depth (Maryland a couple years ago). Spiff
Also, Vitale brought it up, but how crazy would it be if both finals (men's and women's) were Duke-UConn?

Lol... your waking up about when I usually do. I dont think Iowa will be on national tv for quite a while either, looks like a bunch of full court games to finish off January. Chisoxfn
Iowa could of won that game though....poor defensive play by them or at least thats my guess. They are frustrating me, but the big team is so wide open, maybe they can find a way to get in the tourney.
Elcaballo45
Good win for Illinois, I was hoping we would pull away in the 2nd half, but Sonderleiter was playing damn good. Those ticky tack fouls were quite annoying I must say, with most of them called on Illinois. Nick Smith stepped up huge with Auggy in foul trouble, and Powell was an animal down low. Deron's save on his own miss where he flicked it over his right shoulder while diving was a top 10 sportscenter play, and i think was the play that put us over the edge. Great win, great win, we got to keep this up against Penn St, who has been playing decent ball and then go up to Madison. Go Illini!

Well, Im hoping they can beat Iowa St this week, so the Big 10 can get one more victory against a Big 12 conference that i think is underachieving right now as well.... but illinois victory over mizzou is the only one i can think of that big 10 got over big 12, so maybe iowa will play like they did against minnesota last week and today against illinois. I think its possible for Iowa to be the Big 10's 5th team, if we do have 5 teams go... They probably need to go about 10-6 though, which would be the record that may win the big 10. That is a real good chance for the mens final, but there are a couple of teams from TX that might have something to say about that in the womens tourney. Spiff
Duke held on against a Wake team that fought back more than I thought they would. Also, St. Joe's is fighting off a tough Xavier team on ESPN.

Pitt against UConn on monday is gonna be huge, cant wait for that game
