Pastime
Frank is not easily found - he's trying to earn extra bucks by being a clown in the Cirque De Soliel. Either that or he's sitting in a gutter somewhere sipping hooch. 5 million just doesn't get you as much bang for your buck nowadays.

Pastime
What's sad is that Frank Thomas might be someone we hear about in 15-20 years in some expose about a former "millionaire athlete" who was irresponsible with his money, blew it, and now lives in a cardboard box. I've seen it before, I just don't wish it for Frank. But it could happen. Some guys don't think about their lives after their sports careers - they just live in "today" and spend their money if they've got it. The smart athletes accept the fact that they are blessed and that it can end at any point - they are the ones who invest and store the money away like a packrat. The dumb ones blow their money and end up on the streets, with their former glory as their only happy memories.

Maybe Jame Navarro can give him a good reference and get him a job ringing up unleaded and smokes at the shell station at 47th and Central. winninguglyin83
gotta think that privately the Sox love this stuff. it's the only headlines the team generates during the off season while not spending any cash
1549
Has Frank sold that monster of a house in Oak Brook yet? If not, than that thing has been on the market for at least 4 years.
JDsDirtySox
The week before Thanksgiving I was in Vegas for business and saw Frank. IK stayed at the Mandalay Bay, and while walking through the Casino I saw Frank and Charles Barkley in a private gambling room playing Black Jack. The room's entrance was blocked by hotel security, but it had large open windows. I hollered Frank's name and he turned around and simply gave me a head nod. And that was it. I sure hope he has went to the batting cages a few times this winter!

southsider2k5
That might have been the biggest waste of writing space, this side of Kotex-Boy.
aboz56
What's hardest to believe out of this story to me is that the Cubune would send a writer to Las Vegas when there is no guarantee the guy will even get the chance to have a word with Frank. Looks to me that they at least wanted some sort of article out of the trip and this is the mess they print. Woulda been better off just saving themselves the embarassment of printing a stupid article like this.

When I moved away from Chicago in 2001 he was selling it for 13 million. I hope he didn't need all 13 million.

If the guy wasn't all about money, he'd be long gone from the Sox. The fact of the matter is that he's still with us because his contract forces us to pay him more than any team in the right mind would pay him at this point in time. If he had money, he'd be playing elsewhere.
slick03
you know what i found interesting in the article is that the sox are 8-1 to win the series...i just noted that in the article and found it pretty interesting
DBAHO
you know what i found interesting in the article is that the sox are 8-1 to win the series...i just noted that in the article and found it pretty interesting Compared to Kansas City at 20-1 which is really a joke. That should prob be our odds I think, don't think any1 would beat Boston or New York though, but there's always a suprise team in da playoffs who do well. I've heard the complete opposite in the past 2 years. Frank's net worth has supposedly tripled thanks to smart investing help from Arn. Also, I'm sure Frank planned very well for his children's futures. As for the house in Burr Ridge.. it sold for $7.4. Not that it matters.. the house was his ex's.
