Rauch because he's older than Cotts, Honel and the other minor-league prospects, has spent some time in the bigs, had a chance to rebuild his confidence last season and pitched well in a hitters park.

Plus, he's got ability and can disorient hitters with his 6-11 body and solid control.

Rauch had very limited action in the majors. If Stewart is healthy, I'd rather have him. If not, give cotts his shot. Honel wont be in the bigs for another year or two. Grilli excites me as well. I would hate Person or Rauch there.

If Rauch doesn't make the team this season, then he's done. Been waiting way to long for him to get here and stick.

Done with the Sox or done all together?

Knowing our luck, if we cut him lose, he'd surface with the Reds (team closest to his hometown in KY) and have a stellar career.

Isn't this the fifth poll this off season and the second one this week?

Did the 5th starter cause us to be sitting home during the playoffs? No.

How about this question, which two or three of these guys might find a home in our bull pen?

And our #5 starters had a 5.50 or even higher era last year. 10 wins from our #5 starters (which is still below average) we would have been in the playoffs, and possibly to the series. We could have taken the Yankees and the Red Sox, probably not with the A's staff. The key is the production from your backend starters because in our division the 1-3 spots match up pretty well

You could make a case it did.  Remember, we only had 3 wins from our #5 starter all year long.

And we should have gotten three more wins in the 3 games ELo lost 1-0, or had we won more then 11 games against the Tigers like every other team in the Central(we lost 8 times to them, which is pathetic). We win say 7 of those games that we lost between the 11 that I just mentioned, and the division is closer.

That has been talked about ad naseum, and is over with. We sucked and choked in 2003, should have won, didn't, and we'll move on. Be happy that the Twins didn't win.

And let's not bring up 2003 again for many years :nono
