Do you think cigarettes would have been legal if they had known the health ramifications that long ago?  Why should the government subsidize people who want to kill themselves, which is exactly what people who drink too much, and addicted to heavy drugs are doing.  Even Marijuana has been proven to be a much higher cancer causing agent than cigarettes, by a factor of about 20-1, in some studies.  Who pays for these peoples hospital bills when they can't work anymore?  That's right you and I do.

it may have a greater chance of causing cancer but people only smoke about 1/10 of cigs in weight.

um weed tolerance increases has well, and ive never had a high that lasted 30-50 hours. but i can guarantee there is no withdrawl from weed. i smoked up to a quarter of an ounce a day, and quit instanley 4 months ago. ODING on coke is possible but i've never seen anyone do it, besides in movies people are generally smart enough noadays about there drugs.

No, you aren't high for the entire 30-50 hours that marijuana is in your system. The drug doesn't exit your system extremely quickly either. The half life means how long it takes for the body to rid HALF of the active chemicals in your body. But no, you definitely wouldn't be high that whole time. Basically, that very long half life is what enabled you to quit instantly after smoking a lot of weed per day. Just to clear that up.

Then we bail out Philip Morris when paying out the payments to victims would put them under.

Which we shouldn't have done. Corporate welfare is basically bulls***, and should be looked at in at least the same light as they have looked at public welfare. Why should the government support businesses that can't survive on their own?

The crap they cut the cocaine with is worse for you than the actual cocaine.

Yes, but the stuff that is used for lab testing is PURE (bought from companies that DO have access to 100% pure cocaine). And they actually use cocaine and other stimulants to induce psychosis for animal models of Schizophrenia. Animals (esp. rats) that are on cocaine will self-administer cocaine to the point of not eating, drinking, having sex or sleeping. And that is PURE cocaine. I'm sorry, but no way should cocaine be legal--look at the problems we had when it WAS legal. Or better yet we can legalize it--then legalize herion to cure people of their cocain addiction...

Corporate welfare is in place simply because those companies donate heavily to political campaigns. The poor can't donate and thusly, they get f***ed.

What do you mean we aren't criminalizing them?  The Tobacco companies are paying $500 billion in the settlement of lawsuits brought by.... The US government.  Try again.

that is not criminalization, that is all civil suits, totally separate - and I thought the civil suits were filed by various states' attorney generals

as far as the health damage we all pay for - we all pay a lot for fat people, and for people with horrible chorlesterol because of the crap junk and fast fod they eat - go to any ic unit and find the heart surgery patients we all pay for because they ate the wrong things -

ha ha ha to placing a huge surtax on oreos to cover increased medicare and medicaid and private health insurance costs and public employee health insurance costs because people eat crap like that which clogs their arteries and strains their heart with the extra weight the body has to carry - costs the same or higher for tobacco related health issues

I am not posing answers, just questions

for the debate - distinguish between powder cocaine and crack

and discuss what crystal meth is doing to people - other than teach bad science -

why should any prescription drugs be illegal for anyone if street drugs are decriminalized

isn't it great that ectasy (of course, illegal) and its friends have made young 20 something males the most avid group of purchasers for blackmarket viagra so they can try to get it up while drugging

at what point does the pouring of pharmacuticals into the body tell su there should be some cautions?

is the answer to street drugs not in decriminalization or legalizing but making them controleld substances that a doctor can prescribe so there are some controls on something somewhere

when the hell do people who eat crap and junk and fast food admit they are the ones contibuting to our most expensive public health issues? and thus pay sin taxes on it like those who buy cigarettes and alcohol do?
