Jeremy Reed

I didn't notice any post this tidbit from chicagosports.com

Proceed with caution: Jeremy Reed, the White Sox's top prospect, has been wearing a splint on a wrist he injured playing for Team USA in the Olympic qualifying tournament.

Playing left field on a team that had Cleveland prospect Grady Sizemore in center, Reed hurt himself leaping against an outfield wall. The Sox had him checked out by a wrist specialist and say he should be fine in time for spring training.

Reed isn't on the 40-man roster but is expected to be among the non-roster players invited to camp and could challenge Aaron Rowand for the job in center field. Reed, a left-handed hitter, batted .373 overall in 2003, including .409 in 66 games at Double-A Birmingham.

I think that tidbit was already posted by someone.  ;)  (DBAHO)

No-one seemed to take much notice of it, but yeah hopefully it won't affect him long term, but it's only a minor inury. Wrap him up in cotton wool till spring trainin I say.

i hope this kid is the real deal but man i think the hype is taking on a life of its own....this kid cant fart w/o it somebody writing about it....remember crede , now borchard??..reed is probably 2 years away

I understand what you mean. Too much hype can put a TON of pressure on a kid who is just comming on his own/zone. (by the way I love on emphasis on farting ) I don't think reed is 2 years away. I think just this year (if that) but we will definitely see him in 05.

I relly hope those 2 guys can really bring it together. I have faith in Crede, but Borchard i'm not sure on. I remember a couple years back when everyone was talking about Rauch, then he gets injured and what, hes 25 or 26 now and still in the minors. If any prospect really pans out to what we project them to be its a huge plus. Reed could be a career .260 batter and I wouldn't be surprised. Superstars come along few and far between. Especialy in baseball.

There is a big difference between Brochard, Crede and Reed. The two Joe's were MVP type players and Brochard was the next " Mickey Mantle " LOL... sorry bout that let me get back to my point Crede and Joe are more power guys then anything else where as for Reed he is a OBP type of line drive hitter not looking to knock the cover off the ball everytime up so even though he may have lofty expectations put on him in the end he should be fine and be productive this year for our beloved Sox.
