Soxfest
I am so tired of KW saying they could not do what they wanted because again " We are TAPPED OUT " in the tribune today. This is absolute bulls*** of a statement, they raised ticket prices AGAIN this season, Jerry pays NO RENT for Comiskey AGAIN we do the TAX payer. Jerry keeps all money for parking and get MEGA bucks from MLB each year on leagues TV contract. In 1991 bleacher seats were 8.00 now they are 22 or 24 but the product is not 3 times better. Time has come for Jerry to sell he will be 70 this year and is just not in tune with TRUE Sox fans.

Molto
well, the reason, according to the "fans" is because JR never spends money and can't run an organization. However, when we continue to get 15,000 despite them trading for a premiere pitcher in the game, I don't think people can make that excuse, however I still believe Sox fans will. The other reason is the park, many believe it is ugly and the neighborhood around it is boring. And of course 60% of attendance are from the casual fans. There aren't enough die hard fans to fill a Comiskey. However, the Sox haven't put out a bad enough team to get the attendance they have gotten. Even if their teams have only been good on paper, that should've always been good enough to get fans to the park in the early going. we won 95 games in 2000, second home game at comiskey park in 2001, how many we get? about 20,000 or so. Fans won't go unless JR spends money (or in some cases, sells the team) and JR won't spend unless fans come out. who is right? I don't know, but I do know is when a team that is on the field has talent and is capable of winning, fans should go out and support them, something Sox fans really don't like doing. (going by memory) in 94 and thats 3 years after the park opened ..enough time for the newness to wear off... reinsdorf's role in the strike in 94 when the sox had a chance to go all the way and then the white flag trade combined to run off alot of fans and they havent come back... now its almost 10 later and other dynamics have come into play...a major one being alot of the older sox fans from the neighborhoods around comiskey have moved out to the suburbs...since reinsdorf gave them a reason to question if their loyalty was misplaced it will be really hard to win these fans back because now its quite the chore getting to comiskey from the burbs.. Molto
the strike hurt teh sox as well as other teams. as far as the neighborhood, I live there so I know what you are saying HSC. the neighborhood isn't bad and hasn't been bad, I was just talking about the entertainment of it. Comiskey is in a residential area, which makes it a ballgame only area. watch the game and leave. that is what hurts them as well.
baggio202
if we ran off a string of division titles like the indians did in the mid 90's..and as weak and financially strapped as the other teams in our division are there is no reason why the sox couldnt , attendance would be so high at comiskey that season ticket holders like HSC and cw sox would be b*tching their asses off because they would be getting letters from the sox saying that they would now have to start buying licenses before they could purchase their season tickets ...chicago is dying for a winner....win and they will come..but after all reinsdork has done he has to make the first move...not the fans
HawkDJ
You're forgetting that no one comes to the games... Yeah but I'm sure we've sold plenty of season tickets this year since the lower deck section for season ticket holders is already sold out and the club level is now season ticket only. I can't imagine the amount of money we are bringing in from this All Star Game.

Cali
It's your basic Catch 22, The fans won't show up unless the Sox put out a winner, and management won't put out a winner unless the fans show up. It's plain and simple.
doubleM23
It's management's fault. When you're in business, you don't stab your customers in the back, put out a constsitently cheap product and then tell them, "Just waste your money on our s*** now and we promise we'll try and make it better." That's like Business 101, right?
