MurcieOne
I am pretty new here(been reading for a while but just started posting) but, I have to agree with LDF. He makes some great points. Also, I have to root for Cotts, I go to the same school he did. Welcome aboard SFF............ we'd offer you a gift basket, but Redpinstripes ate it all. Then threw it up because he is a crazy drunk.

Cerbaho-WG
This trade is not a wash at all. Foulke has the highest rating for CPbG, what I call Craps Pants in big Games. Koch is more dominant. Cotts was ranked as the third best prospect traded at or before the winter meetings. Valentine was 4th. Daylan Holt or MJ? Too easy.
baggio202
Daylan Holt or MJ? Too easy. remember this quote if josh paul ends up behind the plate of the most important game the sox play this year..if any other team made that trade and left themselves as an only viable back up sandy alomar the GM would have been fired on the spot....we dont even have a catcher on the charlotte roster...there is no one even close to being ready should something happen to olivo..and we dont even know if he is ready..we do know that by the time we can use the shower in the outfield at comiskey sandy will be on the DL...but..it will be fun watching koch throw 98 mph fastballs to tony graffinino

The Sox situation at catcher could be a real catastrophe this year. Way too much pressure on Olivo.

I hold most of you guys and gals in high regard when talking baseball......... but what the f*** did anyone see in Mark Johnson? That guy f***ing blew!!!!!!! He couldn't hit, was average behind the plate, and made alot of stupid plays on the basepaths........ he sucked!!!! Josh Paul.......sucks to....... but Mark Johnson isn't much better. You've got s*** in one hand and dog s*** in the other.....

Way too much pressure on Olivo. and that is what i been preaching since the season ended. we are putting alot of pressure and expectation on olivio and what happens if he doesn't come thru. then where are we? hence my past post of barrett. You've got s*** in one hand and dog s*** in the other..... no one is saying mark johnson is the next carlton fish but that just shows how really weak we are behind the plate...we needed him...not because of his skill but because of what else we had.. id say mark was a little better than average behind the plate...he threw out 37% of runner stealing against him for his career...30% is considered average...lifetime fldg pct of .993...league average over his time in the league..991..so his number says he is an above average catcher offensively...he blows chunks big time...the only positive is he probably was our best bunter...and i guess we differ..i think he has above average speed for a catcher... this is big for me too...he must have called a pretty good game behind the plate because he became buehrle's personal catcher...its also a no-no to trade the catcher that catches your ace...alot of guys worse than johnson hung around long enough to gain a pension because an ace pitcher loved throwing to them... but the main reason for not trading was we dont have any catchers with any promise outside of olivo..and he has all of 21 major league at bats..arnt we kind of thin at arguably the most important position on the field excluding pitchers??? MurcieOne
I think Sandy Alomar is alot better than MJ is. I know alot of people worry about him because he's constantly hurt, but with a reduced amount of games........ he should not miss many starts due to injury. BTW LDF........ Paul's Career BA .258 MJ.... .
bjmarte
I think Olivo will be fine with Alomar to back him up, but the catcher situation in the minors is a worry.

YASNY
Olivo is supposed to be a defensive stud... if he hits .222, same as MJ, then we have improved. Last year it was Johnson, Alomar and Paul ... This year Olivo in, Johnson out. Seems like a wash to me, at worst.
