Bullard
Well I was 8 of 10 on the prospect list. Not bad for a rookie! I only missed Munoz and that Japanese dude we signed. I didnt realize a 35 year old could crack a top 30 list, let alone a top 10 list. Oh well Baseball America is s*** anyway.

McCarthy was on the list prior to that point. You did quite well. No one else can figure why a 35-year old professional veteran would be considered a "prospect". I understand he is eligible for Rookie of the Year by the rules, but why call him a prospect I can't understand.

southsider2k5
I know people who know people, Bull. ;-) Little birdies talk. And just to prove Rex is once again correct, this is a question regarding the Sox top 10 list from BA, by Phil Rogers. RJB from Chicago asks: Phil, were Brandon McCarthy or Robert Valido bumped from the top 10 to slide Takatsu in there? What are your feelings on those 2 prospects? I heard from opposing players that Valido is the real deal. A: Phil Rogers: I'd have to give RJB the prize, if I had one. Indeed, McCarthy was the poor guy who got bumped because of Takatsu. I felt rotten about that. There's a big difference between 10 and 11 in these rankings, in terms of exposure. Valido is another guy who was on the cusp of the top 10. I also had Brian Miller in the 10th spot at one time. Scouts seem to think he has a higher ceiling than McCarthy but I'm impressed by a guy who has led his league in innings and strikeouts two years in a row. On Valido, I've heard nothing but good things on him. He wouldn't have lasted as long as he did in the draft if other teams had projected him to hit like he did at Bristol. He looks like a complete player.

Rogers answered over 100 questions over four hours in that chat. There is some very good info on Sox Minor Leaguers at all levels. My only regret is that I didn't ask him about Yofu and what the Sox are thinking in his regard.

Rex Hudler
Anyone have a guess on what the starting outfield will be for Birmingham next year? with Reed probably at AAA and Durham gone who will fill the three positions? Just guessing....... Jaisen Randolph, Mike Spidale and possibly Scott Bikowski, although I hope Biko gets a shot at AAA. He definitely deserves it. Mr. Bullard, you have any thoughts? Hey bogie, did you get my PM?
Chisoxfn
Anyone have a guess on what the starting outfield will be for Birmingham next year? with Reed probably at AAA and Durham gone who will fill the three positions? I'm assuming you'll see Spidale as the starting centerfielder. Don't know about the other two spots.

BrandoFan
Rex, I heard you got into a brawl with Randar about Rauch. Hehe. The dude thinks Aaron Rowand is a bad defensive CF and has no hitting talent. But Rauch definately reached 94-95 (92-93 was his average) on a few of his heater back in 2000. Even when he was in Chicago in 2002, he often topped out at 93-94 on a TV gun-- and it was clear he wasn't 100% by then. But you're also right about his attitude AND the fact that he may never be what he once was.

hogsmom
Spidale deserves a chance to move up, as do a lot of the guys. Too bad there is not enough room for all the deserving players. By the way, great pic of Honel, I'm going to miss him in Winston-Salem.

Obviously Honel, Wing and Yan, but what others are most ready for AA in your mind?
