WHITE SOX RELEASE FULL 2004 REGULAR-SEASON SCHEDULE;

HOME GAME TIMES FEATURE 2 PM SUNDAY STARTS

CHICAGO - New 2:05 p.m. start times for Sunday afternoon games at U.S. Cellular Field in 2004 headline the Chicago White Sox full regular-season schedule announced today.

The White Sox open the season on a six-game road trip to Kansas City and the New York Yankees before playing their home opener on Tuesday, April 13 vs. the Royals (1:05 p.m.).

Sunday afternoon games at U.S. Cellular Field will begin at 2:05 p.m. this season, with the first Sunday home game scheduled for April 25 vs. Tampa Bay.

"Our fans indicated that a little later start time on Sunday would provide a real benefit to their schedules," said Rob Gallas, White Sox senior vice president of marketing and broadcasting. "Moving the games back one hour gives people additional time for their Sunday morning activities, lunch and then the trip to the ballpark."

After the Central Division-rival Royals visit U.S. Cellular Field for a three-game, home-opening series (April 13-15), the Sox travel to Tampa Bay (April 16-18) for three games before returning home for a 12-game homestand against the Yankees (April 20-22), Tampa Bay (April 23-25), Cleveland (April 27-28) and Toronto (April 29-May 2).

The Sox are home for 15 of 18 games from April 13-May 2 and 13 of 16 games from August 6-22.

The crosstown-rival White Sox and Cubs again play home-and-home series in 2004. The Sox host the Cubs for a three-game weekend series June 25-27 (start times of 3:05 p.m., 3:05 and 2:05), and travel to Wrigley Field for a three-game series over the Fourth of July holiday weekend (July 2-4).

Other than the two series with the Cubs, the Sox face National League East competition in interleague play for the second time in three years, including a series against the World Champion Florida Marlins. The Sox, who are 66-55 all-time in interleague action, are scheduled to play the following six series against N.L. foes in 2004: vs. Philadelphia (June 8-10), vs. Atlanta (June 11-13), at Florida (June 15-17), at Montreal (June 18-20), vs. the Cubs (June 25-27) and at the Cubs (July 2-4). The White Sox were 10-8 in interleague competition in 2003.

The Sox are home for 13 weekends in 2004, facing Tampa Bay (April 23-25), Toronto (April 29-May 2), Minnesota (May 14-16), Anaheim (May 28-30), Atlanta (June 11-13), the Cubs (June 25-27), Seattle (July 9-11), Detroit (July 23-25), Cleveland (August 6-9), Boston (August 20-22), Seattle (September 3-5), Detroit (September 17-19) and the final regular-season home series vs. Kansas City (September 23-26).

The White Sox conclude the regular season with a six-game trip to Detroit (September 27-29) and Kansas City (September 30-October 3).

A complete radio and television broadcast schedule will be released when available.

Take vacation days.  Openning day is a holiday, and should be a national holiday.

I haven't missed an opening day in years

however - tax season is tax season and either I get every client's stuff to the tax preparer and back and filed before 13 April           or opening day will be a day trip and nothing else

for for my other career, the real vocation , at least we don't open until after Easter so I won't be missing any games because of Holy Week or Easter!!!! :headbang :headbang :headbang

those 2:00 Sunday games, I am not happy about - that is a 3:00 start by my time, which means I will get home one hour later and not be able to make the kennel by 8 ever again which means I don't get the dogs until Monday and have to pay a days worth of extra boarding fees every home weekend

What is better than watching baseball while eveyone else is at school?

Well, let's see ...

Watching baseball while everyone else is at school, and having an incredibly hot chick on your arm at the game?

The home opener is on my spring break  No begging the parents for it off this year

Wow you have a late spring break. Our's starts March 21. I'm trying to talk my mom into going to Tuscon, but my sisters want to go to Spain or something so those of you with sisters know what that means, we'll probably end up going there.

You forgot one thing!!! The fact that she is also a Sox fan, and your cuddled up together because of the cold weather! AAHHHH! But then all of a sudden you both warm up as you look at the score board and see that The Cubs just lost, and sharing in that glorious moment together!!
