I guess they come out with these every other Monday, here's the list they posted:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chicago White Sox

Signed LHP Vic Darensbourg, 3B Robert Sasser, OF Micah Franklin, IF Richard Paz and RHP Jose Santiago. Released Cs Daniel Barnett and Joe Gillikin, RHPs Rafael Gomez and Brandon O’Neal, 2Bs Estevinson Ramirez and Freddie Lebron, 3B Juan Santamarina, SS Jimmy Terrell and 1B Michael Bohlander.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Darensbourg and Jose Santiago we knew about.

I will look up Sasser, Franklin, Paz.

The two catchers were low draft choices who got very little playing time.

Rafael Gomez was (I think) a guy they signed out of the Dominican, O'Neal was a guy they got in the Rule 5 minor league phase last year.

Lebron and Santamarina were both draft choices, I think Santamaria has been kicking around for awhile now. Bohlander was a draft choice too.

I'd never heard of Estevinso Ramirez or Jimmy Terrell.

OK, as I suspected it's nothing exciting, just roster fill for the minors.

Robert Sasser is a 29 yr. old 2B who played for Omaha in AAA last year.

Micah Franklin is a soon-to-be 32 year old outfielder who's logged some time in Japan, and played for Tucson in the Diamondbacks organization in 2002.

Richard Paz is 26, a utility infielder type who's been knocking around AA ball.

parent club does have a responsibility to atleast attempt to put competitive teams on the field for their minor league affiliates...about 2 years ago the owners of the charlotte franchise were so pissed at the sox because they were losing money because the talent level was so low...i remember we added for major leaguers brooks kiesnick and damon buford to appease them...so thats what all these signing are..keeping charlotte competitive so they can draw
