Loaiza21
Anyone have any idea who is going to leadoff this season? I can see Rowand there, being that he's somewhat quick on the basepaths and is a much better hitter than Harris has been. Any thoughts? SuperSteve
Really depends big time on ST. If Willie comes out swinging, I can't imagine he will not lead off. He is the only guy I can see being a real leadoff hitter. It could be worse though, anyone remember when Jeremy Giambi bated leadoff for the A's (I think it was the A's). Chisoxfn
Has to be Willie Harris, at least to start the season. The Sox biggest weakness (along with the 4th and 5th spots in the rotation) has to be the front of the order (1 and 2 hitters) where the Sox truly lack proven guys that can get on base. Now if Lee hits in the 2 hole, that covers that area, but then you still have Harris or Rowand or I guess Jose (That would be really ugly) leading off. It will be interesting. knightni
Harris will start the season leading off, but I have a feeling that they will try putting Rowand and Valentin in leadoff if Harris fails, then Reed will be brought up later in the year to lead off. southsideirish
Better yet when Chris Richard lead off for the A's Really? Chris Richard? Get the hell outta here! Disgusting!!!!!
elrockinMT
I believe that Ozzie Guilen has stated that Willie Harris is the lead off man. He also said that Frank Thomas was his #3 hitter in contradiction to an earlier report where he said he wanted Frank to hit clean up. SuperSteve
Better yet when Chris Richard lead off for the A's I still though he was a little swifter than Giambi. No matter how you look at it, our problems could be worse.
Loaiza21
Was it Chris Richard? I'm having fuzzy memories, hold on a sec...
Loaiza21
Sorry, correction, Oakland's leadoff in the late 90's was Rich Becker for one season. Lol. It was a failed experiment.
Texsox
Another reminder why this season has the potential to be a f***ing nightmare. :headshake

I loved having C. Lee in the 2 spot. He seemed to really shine there, but Robbie kind of contribuited to that. He got to see a lot of pitches in the on deck circle. CubsSuck1
Probably Harris, I can really see ozzie doing good things with him leading off and getting on base. Lee I think was really great at #2. I'd probably go with this for a lineup: 2B Harris LF Lee 1B Thomas RF Magglio DH Konerko SS Valentin CF Rowand 3B Crede C Olivo Thomas will most likely play at the DH, But I say if he plays better at first, then play the man at first. I know we all hope Konerko can bust out. All of this depends on spring training of course, but as of now that is how I see it. Things could get interesting if either Konerko or Jose didn't love up to expectations. If Konerko is somehow bumped, we could play Jose at DH and put Uribe at SS and in the two hole. A Harris/Uribe top of the order has the potential to be dominant as long as they get on base, which is a big IF.
Loaiza21
Konerko had a great 2nd half. People forget he was injured for the first half of the season....He'll be back to normal. Jose is on a decline. I really hate to see his average go so low, and the .115 AVG in the Puerto Rican league's doesn't give me much hope in him for 2004. Play Uribe. Jordan4life_2007
It will be Harris. And i'm all for it. I'm all about givin everybody a chance. We know he can fly. If he can hit .275 i'll be happy...
EvilJester99
I think at first the Sox will use Willie as the leadoff but if he struggles they will use Rowand and maybe should move Willie to the end of the lineup...like say 8th to take some stress off of him.
