Gene Honda Civic
I'll be using the same criteria as ESPN, I'll be waying heavier on the present situation, with the exception of Championships, past counts, as does perception of future. BNG (Bang for the Buck): Revenues directly from fans divided by wins in the past three years FRL (Fan Relations): Ease of access to players, coaches & management OWN (Ownership): Honesty; loyalty to players and city AFF (Affordability): Price of tickets, parking and concessions STD (Stadium Experience): Friendliness of environment; quality of game-day promotions PLA (Players): Effort on the field; likability off it CCH (Coach/Manager): Strong on-field leadership CHA (Championships): Titles already won or expected -- soon ESPN used this formula: Overall = (BNG x .158) + (FRL x .162) + (OWN x .155) + (AFF x .105) + (STD x .127) + (PLA x .130) + (CCH x .086) + (CHA x .077) Team.....BNG....FRL....OWN....AFF....STD....PLA....CCH....CHA....TOT Bears.....2......1......3......2......2......1......3......1......15 Cubs......3......2......1......3......1......2......1......3......16 Sox.......1......3......2......1......4......3......4......4......22 Bulls.....4......4......4......4......3......4......2......2......27 Hawks.....5......5......5......5......5......5......5......5......40 I hadn't planned on using the formula, because my figures are less than scientific, but I didn't think the bears would finish #1 in my poll. I figured the Cubs would still finish #1 but by a far smaller margin Than the ESPN poll with the formula it figures like this... Bears=1.872 Cubs=1.972 Sox=2.609 Bulls=3.547 Hawks=5 Give me your opinions, what would you have scored differently... I think a little of my own biases came into play here, I tried to evaluate the cubs as neutrally as possible, but i think The Bears, who I love even more than the sox, got some favorable rankings by me. Texsox
Way to much work to redo what you have but I can't see how affordability has the Bears so high. Unless something changed, tickets, parking, etc. are pretty high. I would have placed the Bears #5. Baseball is usually the bargain in all these polls. I would place the Hawks a little higher in loyalty, they are to a fault at times. Hawks and Bulls do play in the same stadium don't they? I think for the Hawks stadium is everything. I would probably bump them up to 3 or 4. Championships is interesting. If I had to predict who would win the next Championship I would say the Cubs (gotta give them their due) followed in order Bears, Bulls, Sox, Hawks. But the poll factored in recent championships and that has to bump the Bulls up. So Cubs, Bulls, Bears, Sox, Hawks
