Loaiza21
Alright, lets make this interesting. Make your roster predictions before spring training. The person who gets the closest gets a cookie and a pat on the back. Tiebreaker will be the opening day lineup and starting pitcher. Mine: Rotation 21 Esteban Loaiza 56 Mark Buehrle 20 Jon Garland 60 Scott Schoeneweis 54 Felix Diaz Bullpen Billy Koch (closer) Damaso Marte (setup) Cliff Politte (setup #2) Shingo Takatsu (short/middle) Kelly Wunsch (short/middle) Dan Wright (long) Robert Person (mopup) Lineup 2B Harris LF Lee RF Ordonez (remember Ozzie saying he wanted Maggs @ #3 just after the hiring) 1B Thomas DH Konerko 3B Crede SS Valentin CF Rowand C Olivo Bench IF Juan Uribe 1B/LF Ross Gload C Sandy Alomar OF Joe Borchard

I really think Person is gonna get a shot as our 5th starter. If only because he's had success as a starter before...I also think Marvin Benard has a chance to make the team... Gene Honda Civic
Rotation 21 Esteban Loaiza 56 Mark Buehrle 20 Jon Garland 60 Scott Schoeneweis John Rauch --- I think he makes the jump, fully recovered from the shoulder injury, and get 12 wins. Who plays third when Crede needs a day off? Valentin? I guess that means he's hitting both righties and lefties. I was confident headed into ST until I had to make this. Opening Day starter = Loiza, Buerhle wants to pitch the home opener. players who spend time in a sox UNI before september call ups: Pacheco, Diaz, Stewart, Borchard, Reed, Grili(I'm not familliar with the rule V rules)

Gene Honda Civic
Cheat...If youre right about Rauch i'll give u all my paychecks for a month. I've been waiting 3 years on Jon Rauch. If he doesn't do anything this year i'm done with him... He quietly had a really solid season last year. No one seemed to notice... And that was coming off of surgery... I know He's not a top of the rotation starter, but he was 3:1 KtoBB ratio, so he had some control, and if he's healthy, He makes the squad. BillSharp
Can't see Borchard making the team, he needs PT. If the Sox only carry 11 pitchers then the bench will be Uribe, Gload, Alomar, Benard & one of the 2 catchers on the 40 - Burke or Rivera. Only ?s are 5th starter & 7th reliever if they go with 12 pitchers. Starters: Person, Campos, Grilli are older and if cut will either be re-claimed by their rule 5 teams or become FAs. So I think these 3 will get the shot over guys we have options on like Diaz or Rauch. If there is a 12 man staff the last guy in the pen will either be Mike Jackson or Ginter (no options) or one of the 3 guys I named as possible 5th starters. Sanders has options & we have 2 good lefties in the pen. Problem is who is healthy? Person & Jackson might be guys who start on DL or on rehab assignments. If Person & Jackson are fully healthy great - if not keep your eyes on the rule 5 guys - Grilli & Campos. I'm only talking about who breaks camp with the Sox. I hope Rauch is up before July. Seems he's in the doghouse right now. JMO.
