SoxAce
Rotation Esteban Loaiza Mark Buehrle Jon Garland Odalis Perez Jason Grilli Bullpen Billy Koch (closer) Damaso Marte (setup) Cliff Politte (setup #2) Shingo Takatsu (short/middle) Kelly Wunsch (short/middle) Dan Wright (long) Shoney (mopup) Lineup 2B Harris LF C. Borchard? No. Just substitute him for Benard and I agree with your 25 man even with alittle optimism with Perez, and T.Lee.
baggio202
lets have some fun here...sox make 2 big deals before the season starts...konerko and some crappy prospects for perez...thomas to seattle for soriano and wynn(adding garcia too is just too much to even dream about)..not that id trade thomas but KW wants to so lets give him his wish and see what the team looks like loiaza buehrle perez garland shoenewiess koch :puke marte soriano zero the hero pollitte wunsch wright cf wynn ss valentin lf maggs 1b lee rf borchard 3b crede dh rowand c olivo / alomar 2b harris uribe burke (he's an oregon state alum - he makes my team!!!) gload you know whats funny..i was just joking around witrh trading paulie and thomas but looking at that 25 man roster...i think it might be better than what would we would have if we did nothing...our pitching is definately better..our defense is better..our hitting is weaker and our bench really sucks...but overall...i think this 25 man roster might fair better than what we will run out there...atleast this roster stregthens the rotation and bullpen...gives us a legit leadoff hitter...and borchard , even if he hits 220 and k's 200 times will hit at least 40 homers , most from the left side... i could never bring myself to trade thomas but does anyone else think this 25 man roster is better than what we can put together doing nothing at all??? bigred3535
Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't Rule V guys have to make the Opening Day roster or else they're sent back to their original team at a cost charged to the Sox? I'd imagine that Grilli makes the team if he does anything close to decent for that reason alone.
Guest JimH
Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't Rule V guys have to make the Opening Day roster or else they're sent back to their original team at a cost charged to the Sox? I'd imagine that Grilli makes the team if he does anything close to decent for that reason alone. Basically yes, the player has to stay on the 25 man roster (or disabled list) for the entire season or they must be offered back to the original team for $25,000. So the Sox essentially get a look-see at Grilli for $25k. I would agree that if Grilli has a decent-to-strong spring, they'll find a place for him. Based on comments made when they took him, the Sox scouts really like this guy and think he's finally healthy.
hogan873
It seems like most of us have the same idea for the rotation and lineup, with only small differences here and there. The bullpen and bench have a few more variations. So, here's my unoriginal guess: Rotation Loaiza Buehrle Garland Schoeneweis Person Bullpen Koch (closer) Marte Takatsu Politte Wunsch Wright Santiago Lineup 2B - Harris LF - Lee RF - Ordonez DH - Thomas 1B - Konerko 3B - Crede SS - Valentin CF - Rowand C - Olivo Bench Uribe Alomar Benard Of course this could all get tossed out if any trades happen, but who really thinks a trade will happen? Especially involving another SP?

DonkeyKongerko
SP - Buehrle SP - Loaiza SP - Garland SP - Schoeneweis SP - Grilli LR - Wright MR - Santiago MR - Politte MR - Wunsch SU - Marte SU - Takatsu CL - Koch 2B - Harris LF - Lee DH - Thomas RF - Ordonez 1B - Konerko 3B - Crede SS - Valentin C - Olivo CF - Rowand IF - Gload (Could be replaced by a FA) IF - Uribe C - Alomar Jr. OF - Benard (Armando Rios 2k4) I've always liked putting a fast OBP guy at the #9 spot in the order. That's why I've put Rowand there but if Willy struggles I could see Rowand batting leadoff and Willy demoted to 9.
