Loaiza21
If this LA thing works out with Konerko for Perez. I think Randall Simon would be a solid replacement. The guy was amazing with the Cubs in the playoffs. I don't think he has too many cooties from the Cubs, since he was there just 3 months. Anyone agree? I think he's the best available replacement at 1B. Certainly not wanting Gload playing there. Williams said that he wasn't trading Thomas. He never said anything about Konerko. SuperSteve
Rotoworld is saying that the Bucs are looking at Travis Lee again, and Simon is not set in stone to go back there. It was looking that he was headed back to Pitt. Says that if Lee goes to the Bucs, then Simon will end up on the bench somewhere. I think if we can finalize a deal sending one of our 1B boppers away, he is here for sure, IF WE WANT HIM. Now, who says we have any interest though. I would like him personally, but good ole KW and JR make the decisions.
Guest JimH
If you're looking at the "denial" in the Sun-Times today, KW does not say Frank Thomas won't be traded. All he says is there is no firm offer from Los Angeles at the moment. Big difference I'd say.
Cali
I've been pushing for Simon for a while now, if Paulie does get traded to LA, I say get Simon.

I am so not against him coming here. At least we know he can make contact with the bat
baggio202
simon and ozzie come from the same school of hitting....if the pitch is anywhere inside the park its hittable....so there might be a good fit there
1549
Sports Weekly said that if Konerko is traded Ross Gload could have a big year for the Sox. I don't see it though.
southsideirish
I've been pushing for Simon for a while now, if Paulie does get traded to LA, I say get Simon. Why is everyone pushing for Simon? I didn't see much from him the last few years. Please give me your opinions of him. What makes him such a good replacement for Konerko/Thomas? Thanks guys! He really hasnt had a great deal of time at the major league level, so I wouldnt mind seeing him given a chance.

What makes him such a good replacement for Konerko/Thomas? Thanks guys! Because he is a LH bat, can hit the ball out of the ballpark, and hits the ball harder then hell. He doesn't walk, and that is his biggest knock. That and he also whacks weiners.

What makes him such a good replacement for Konerko/Thomas? Thanks guys! I think we haven't seen much of him because he is a middle of the road role player. Why all of sudden people think he is a replacement for Konerko escapes me. I can see the real possibility that Konerko gets traded. I hope not especially for only Perez, but you just never know around here. I haven't seen Gload in the bigs either so you don't know if he can hit .300+, 35 HR's, 100+ RBI's like Konerko can and has done.
fullcollapse
simon's ob% kind of scares me. after all the offense slumps the sox had last year i'd like to see someone who can just get on a base. of course if konerko is traded there isn't a lot of options either. But he puts the ball in play, and that is something I would like to see. He is the proto-typical .300 average .320 OBP kind of guy. I don't know how often that occurs, but it happens here. IMO though, guys can get on base all they want. They still need to get past 1B. We had all kinds of guys on last year. They ended up going to the bench talking to their teammate who just got them out by grounding into a DP. I don't want to accept getting on base. I want guys who can get base hits WITH guys on base. Simon did that a time or two last year.

bulokis
I want Travis Lee instead. Good power numbers with 19HR's and .275 avg.
SuperSteve
I want Travis Lee instead. Good power numbers with 19HR's and .275 avg. Lefty with good defense, I think that is more important with the boppers we already have. We would have good corner infielders then, and a not bad defensively infield. Again, I haven't seen much of him and was just curious why some people would like to see him in a white sox uniform. The little bit that I saw of him last year I really wasn't impressed. Thanks again!

We would have good corner infielders then, and a not bad defensively infield. That is what I was thinking as well. I would really like to have Travis Lee if either Thomas or Konkerko left. Boras is his agent, as another poster mentioned, so that could put a damper on things.

I think someone mentioned that or at least implied it. He swings at everything but makes contact.

1549
c'mon guys we will love Simon when he is swinging at the first pitch above his head with noone out in the ninth down a run.

And I don't think rooting for former Cubs players is like eating your poop because you're starving. I think it's like drinking your pee because your dehydrated. Rooting for former Twins players is like eating your poop because you're starving.
