FlaSoxxJim
Free Four - Obscured by Clouds Se Emily Play - 1967 single. Not enough people know the Barret-era stuff. Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together in a Cave and Grooving With A Pict - Ummagumma. Great song title to give the other team when playing charades I like a lot of stuff from their impressive discography, but I make a point of not even listening to any of the post-Waters stuff amd cut it off at The Final Cut. It's not that I think Waters was the band or anything at the time, but all the more recent stuff just sounds sooo self-derivative, like Gilmour just stopped trying very hard. Holy crap, they're still churning out stuff? I thought they were, like, nonexistent for almost 20 years.

You're right, the Barret era just wasn't popular enough for people to actually know that the songs existed, even some pre Dark Side stuff. There are some exceptional songs after the Waters era that are a totally different Pink Floyd, but nothing as great as before. I'm not too fond of The Final Cut, although I've only listened to it a few times, but nothing was really good enough for me to want to listen to again. I should add See Emily Play to my list, I love that song, one reason is because whenever I play it my sister Emily makes weird faces. Pastime
Anything without Roger Waters is not Pink Floyd - end of discussion. David Gilmore, Richard Wright, and Nick Mason can perform all the albums and concerts they want to under the name "Pink Floyd," but they are only lying to themselves and to all the die-hard fans. Unless Waters is in the rotation, it's not truly "pure" Pink Floyd. Thank God I saw them in concert back when they were all together.
