whitesoxfan99
I'm surprised this hasn't been posted, but Rasheed Wallace and Wesley Person were sent to Atlanta in exchange for Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Theo Ratliff, and Dan Dickau. Capn12
Mr. Rasheed "C'mon Ref, gimme another f#$#ing technical" Wallace. No chance I go get that guy. I understand Wesley Person is serviceable, but you ive up Abdur-Rahim? The Hawks are destined to be a bottom feeding team for years to come. knightni
Wow Wallace is gonna be pissed.. Atlanta.. heh.. that's like going from the Braves to the Brewers.
The Bones
Wow Wallace is gonna be pissed.. Atlanta.. heh.. that's like going from the Braves to the Brewers. Not exactly. Portland wasn't really tearing it up. I just don't understand why Atlanta would do this. Abdur-Rahim is better in almost every statistical category than Wallace and he's younger. And to add Ratliff onto that is just ridiculous. This is a terrible deal for Atlanta. They better do something worthwhile with that money at the end of this year. Mathew
Rahim is good and the other players in the trade sucked. Atlants has some tax room now but they lost their best player, thins trade blew for them but, Portland is irrelevant so who cares?
southsider2k5
It was all a salary dump. Wallace's contract expires at the end of the year.
The Critic
Wow Wallace is gonna be pissed.. Atlanta.. heh.. that's like going from the Braves to the Brewers. I think Rasheed will be HAPPY to go from Portland to Atlanta. Not professionally happy, but extra-curricular activities happy. Lots more things to do for him in Atlanta, I would think. Bad news for the Hawks, though....
SuperSteve
Ratliff makes like $10 million. I can easily see why they do this. Although, losing Abdul-Rahim is tough.

Jesus, who signed Theo Freakin Ratliff to 10 mill per? Was KW in the NBA before baseball??
Pale Hose Jon
Jesus, who signed Theo Freakin Ratliff to 10 mill per? The same guy that got Lon Kruger
aboz56
Atlanta will have 50 million in cap room after this season after this trade. They'll probably go after Kobe according to ESPN.
greasywheels121
The Blazers are like the NY Rangers of the NBA. They spend so much and get absolutely nothing for it.
Bighurt52235
Personally, I love this trade. I'm so happy to see Wallace go. So are tons of fans in this area. Many fans called into to the Portland sports radio station saying that this is the best day in blazers history since winning the NBA title in 1977, and they also said that they will go out today and buy Blazers tix, something that some of them haven't done in years. But the reason the Hawks did this is that Shareef and Ratliff (who leads the NBA in blocked shots) are due $25 million next year, than their contracts are up. The Blazers weren't originally going to take on salary, but they decided that they would stay reasonably competitive next year. If they simply let Sheed walk, they would be a f***ing lottery team next year. After next year, however, Dale Davis, Shareef, Ratliff, and Damon Stoudamire's contracts all expire. That's $50 million dollars freed up in what will be a huge free agent class!
WillieHarris2
Portland is clearly getting the better end of this trade because Sheed averages 17.0 pts, 7 boards and 2 assists while Abdur-Rahim is averaging 20 pts, 9 boards and .4 assists. Sucks for wallace that he has to go to Atlanta now but i guess he deserves it after everything hes done.
