whitesoxin'
I was watching the Bulls game when this commercial came on. The ad from ATA and it was begging Greg Maddox to come to Chicago. It said how great the Cubs were and that everyone wanted him here. Why the hell would they make a commercial like that? :fthecubs

ATA's coporate is in Indianapolis.
whitesoxin'
Is ATA owned by the Tribune Company or something? I just found it odd to see a comercial like that. I never saw the commercials trying to help the Sox get someone off the FA market.
whitesoxin'
ATA's coporate is in Indianapolis. Wow now I'm more confused. I guess it was just a local ad for a short time until Maddux signs with LA.

I wonder if they are running the same ad all over the place (customized for each market)?

Why the hell would they make a commercial like that? :fthecubs I'm watching the Bulls game for the sole purpose of catching this commercial. Bastards are trying to add subliminal messages to a ATA commercial, as if Gregg Maddux or Scott Boras are watching WCIU. I hope he signs with the Dodgers, and then sites this commercial as the cuddly Cub image he wanted to avoid! :fthecubs
WillieHarris2
wow i cant believe they made a commercial about that. thats ridiculous that ata would make a commercial like that.

whitesoxin'
BTW why the hell are you watching the Bulls? Turn on ESPN and watch some real hoops! That was gonna be the commercial flip, but now I want to see that commercial again. The Pacers are in town too, so I get to see some real basketball. And it's throwback night. But since its halftime I'm watching MSU kick ass.

ATA's coporate is in Indianapolis. that's true, but i believe that a huge majority of thier flights are originated (not sure if that's the right word) from midway airport, although i think they do have a couple of international flights that leave from o'hare. kapkomet
Their two main hubs are in Indianapolis and Midway, so yes, they have a big community presence but still this really surprises me that they would do such a thing. Last time I knew, they had about 35% of their folks based out of Midway, still not a huge number to be spending advertising dollars for something like this. What's this going to get them? If you spend money to advertise, are you going to make any revenue off of it? Somehow I think this was a total waste of advertising dollars. Do you think a Cubs fan (seriously, don't lynch me or knock their fans, I'm just saying) is going to fly on ATA now because they put this ad on tv? It went something like this: "We all know by now that Greg Maddux is still trying to decide where to sign, LA or Chicago. If he comes here, he will be on a winning team with a realistic shot at the NL Pennant. Plus, everyone is Chicago would love to see him here again. Our great prices will make it easy for Greg to escape to LA anyday of the week if he wishes, on an off day of course. So please, Greg, come back home to Chicago. Sincerely, ATA." It barely mentioned any of its prices or any advertisement. 28 of the 30 seconds were begging Greg to come here. The whole commercial was showing an ATA plane in the air with a voice talking. It was a very odd ad.
