Steve Bartman's my idol
Would anyone consider this trade, ESPN is reporting that Lowe is not to pleased with his contract, and wants to know where he stands.
witesoxfan
Why would Boston want Frank Thomas? Don't they have about 3, if not more, 1B/DH types(off the top of my head, Manny should be a DH, Millar is 1B, and Ortiz is 1B/DH...are there more?). I'd take Lowe, but I doubt Boston gives him to us for Frank.
BurlyMan56
Lowe is a big part of that staff this year...And a big reason for this season...Pedro,Lowe,Schilling is damn good...He'll be gone after the season..

witesoxfan
Don't forget they just signed Ellis Burks too. So that IS 4. And they'd take Frank for what reason? To get Lowe, it would probably cost us some combination of Reed, Cotts, Honel, and Borchard.
mike12345
if garland can pitch consistently we will be fine with pitching...One guy I wish we would have gotten is Ron Villone...i watched him in Houston this past season and he dominated.... He'd of been a decent pitcher at the very least. I agree though. He definately would have been a solid pickup.
C.Rector
Villone is a Scott Boras client who still hasn't been picked up by anyone. Given that he faded away at the end of the season, its hard to see why you'd want him in the first place.
fattyguy78
Actually Villone was picked up by somebody earlier this week, i can't recall wut team however

Given that he faded away at the end of the season, its hard to see why you'd want him in the first place. From Rotoworld: Mariners signed LHP Ron Villone, who had been with the Astros, to a one-year, $1 million contract. Villone had success as a starting pitcher for the Astros last season, but his ERAs the three previous years were 5.43, 5.89 and 5.81. Since he's no better against lefties than versus righties, the Mariners are probably going to be disappointed with his performance as a reliever. ninetyfour
Would anyone consider this trade, ESPN is reporting that Lowe is not to pleased with his contract, and wants to know where he stands. Why would we want to trade our hall of famer? Seriously, what is wrong with this current generation of Sox fans in their late teens/early twenties? There's no loyalty. It's f***ing pathetic. :puke

It's f***ing pathetic. :puke We have lost with him and his lousy attitude, I am sure we can do the same without him and it. Pitching wins championships. If we can get really good pitching in return for a slugger who can't play the field then why not do it? Take a look around the league, for that matter all professional sports, and you show me where the loyalty is. The loyalty is to the almighty dollar. If Frank could have received a decent contract from another team last year do you think he would still be here? He shopped his services around last year, where was his loyalty then? We have lost with 24 other players too don't forget plus a manager and team owner. Our failing to make it to the championship is not the fault of the Big Hurt. Remember the guy is a 2 time MVP and we have had success behind Frank in 93-94 and '00.
Steve Bartman's my idol
so substitute Maggs for Frank and get Lowe and Nixon in return.

Just like elrockinMT said, Frank is only one player out of 25. Pitching wins championships, you say? Well, so does on base plus slugging percentage, and Frank's lifetime OPS through 14 years is at .1000. There are maybe 7 or 8 other guys in the history of baseball who rank ahead of Frank in OPS, including Ruth, Gehrig, Williams, Bonds, Horsnby, Foxx, and Musial. So have some respect. Get your head out of your ass and recognize the best player that you'll ever see in a White Sox uniform.

Just as a slight correction that could be misinterpreted badly if one wanted to(and it's quite obvious no one would), Frank's career OPS is at .996, which is still among the best ever and is very close to being over 1.000. I'm sure someone could do the math and figure out how many walks/hits/homers it would take to get Frank over that 1.000 mark again and it would probably be a shockingly little amount. Also, I agree with both ninetyfour and supernuke. Loyalty is important, no question about it, but if we could make a trade that would bring us a pitcher that would lead us to a World Series(atleast the World Series that is), I'd be all for the trade. Soxbadger
It looks like a poster, I have a very similar Frank Thomas one that says "The Hammer", seems like the Fisk one was made in the same set. SB
