SnB
Just saw this on ESPN News when they were talking about the A-Rod Deal.
danman31
Yeah, I read in the paper they were at 10-1. How the heck did that happen? BTW, that article I read in the Sunday paper was a good read. It talked about the optimistic and pessimistic way to look at the Sox.

SuperSteve
The Red Sox? Or the White Sox?
whitesoxin'
8-1?! Hell, I'll take that. We were something like 14-1 last year, I believe, even after the trades.
southsider2k5
8-1? Damn too bad they don't have a contra bet because I would take money on those odds all day long.

southsideirish
That's right! Our team is about the same as it was last year at this time, possibly even better. We have a 20 game winner in Loaiza (last year it was Colon), Buehrle, Garland and a bunch of question marks. We have a pretty deep and solid bullpen which it wasn't thought of at this time last year. Our lineup is decent. Our feilding, speed, and top of the order may actually be better than last year at this time with the addition of a completely healthy ARow and Willie Harris. Then you add a year of experience to Olivo and Crede. A better year from Koch, Buehrle, Paulie, Valentin, and Maggs. You take all that into account and see that the Twins have lost a bunch of players and the Royals did little to improve their starting rotation and we have better odds than last year. This is going to be a great year Sox fans!!!!!
Nokona
Well s***, then i give myself 2-1 odds to get with Elisha Cuthbert.
ChiSox_Sonix
at 10-1 i'd put $100 on it. Why not, potentially a nice payout for something that isnt all that much of a stretch.
MurcieOne
Hopefully this bodes well for the WhiteSox, I Didn't see the Royals or the Twins on that same graphic, so maybe were the favorites in vegas to win the central. I think a good manager wil make more difference for this team, than keeping all the FA's we lost this last year.
whitesoxfan99
I'd bet on the Sox to win the Central division, but the ALCS, come on. Does anyone really see us beating the A's, Red Sox, Angels, or Yankees in a playoff series?

I put solid money that the Yankees dont win the World Series and that Joe Torre gets canned.

They better hope he is fully recovered. That offense looks anemic.

That offense looks anemic. Even so, I can't see this team winning back to back playoff series at this time. If someone steps up big time or we make additions during the season that is a different story. And actually, I thought the Marlins had a great shot at the Yankees last year in the playoffs. With the way they were playing and Josh Beckett was pitching they could have given anyone a series.

Billy Beane has the right idea when it comes to winning the world series. make it to the playoffs, and the rest is a crap shoot. I think that it all matters to whose hot and whose not... If we find a friggin way to get the ALDS.... anything can happen. MB, ELO, JG and our solid Bullpen can be very dangerous if theyre hot. Don't get me wrong, I would be ecstatic if the Sox made it to the World Series. I just don't see a chance that it happens. You are right, it is a crapshoot once you are in the playoffs, but we would be seriously outgunned by the Red Sox, Angels, and Yankees. The Marlins had their X-factor Josh Beckett which I don't think we have. Anything can happen but we are more likely to not make the playoffs then win the ALCS IMO. Joe Borchard, Jeremy Reed, Jon Garland, Emencio Pacheco, Neal Cotts, Rauch, Arnie Munoz, Joe Crede.... all possible "X" factors. I dont think you can be sure or be completely doubtful about ANYTHING in the MLB.

I believe we WILL make the playoffs this year. Every year we've been the favorites and choked under the pressure. I think with ozzie our guys are going to be able to have some fun and come out on top, very twins-esque.
