southsider2k5
According to today's Trib the Bears are about to cut Kordell Stewart, Warrick Holdman, and Phillip Daniels which would save the Bears about $15 million against next years salaries. Not upset about Kordell, but I am not happy about Holdman and Daniels.
Brian
According to today's Trib the Bears are about to cut Kordell Stewart, Warrick Holdman, and Phillip Daniels which would save the Bears about $15 million against next years salaries. Not upset about Kordell, but I am not happy about Holdman and Daniels. Warrick has rarely been healthy since 2001, with the ergence of Lance Briggs, his big contract becomes expendable. They may re-sign him to a smaller deal. The only D-linemen I like are Brown and Traylor, everyone else can easily be replaced. Traylor is a UFA and I doubt we will bring him back, so maybe keeping Daniels would be a good idea.
MurcieOne
If we cut holdman and lose him.... We'd better find a good replacement quick.... we need a solid core of LB's and Bryan Knight isnt the answer.... Urlacher. Briggs, and ? MurcieOne
Chandler likes being Rex's mentor.... I like to hear that. Keep Crystal Chandaleer around for awhile. Guy knows how to be a QB in this league. From the Suntimes Working with Grossman appeals to Chandler, too. ''We get along really well,'' he said. ''We have the same sense of humor, maybe the same kind of demeanor. You watch him, and things don't really bother him. It's hard to instill that in a young guy. I think Rex has that. ''I'm not going to sit here and say I see a lot of myself in Rex. I'm sure there are some similarities. I believe he respects me, and he's earned my respect. I've been around some young guys that don't really endear themselves to you a whole lot. He wanted to hear things I had to say.''
southsider2k5
The other thing that the Trib said that was interesting was by cutting these guys, they would be keeping Villarial most likely. That has got to make Rex feel better. But it also makes the Bears drafting a DT or pass rusher all of the more likely.
C.Rector
What this means is that Angelo was not sabotaging Jauron. Angelo really is an incompetent and the Bears will continue to be pathetic under Coach Lovie.
WSoxShuf
Why don't we see what occurs in the offseasons before insulting the managment.
moochpuppy
I would rather the Bears keep Holdman and restructure his contract along with RW's. Unless Daniels can make a difference in the middle it's time for him to go.
knightni
Stewart, 2 others as good as gone ...the (Bears) recently approached defensive tackle Bryan Robinson about reducing his salary to $1.45 million and Angelo said Robinson complied, saving nearly $1 million against the cap. Gene Honda Civic
What this means is that Angelo was not sabotaging Jauron. Angelo really is an incompetent and the Bears will continue to be pathetic under Coach Lovie. I'm probably the biggest critic of Angelo around here, And even I understand the fact that he'll likely cut some guys doesn't make him incompetent. Given the Salary Cap situation in football, and the way free agents are signed, coupled with Non-Guarenteed contracts, and this is what you get. Every team is going to release someone to stay under the cap. The guys named here are making way too much money for what they actually contribute to the team. Holdman is a decent starter, but he's paid like nearly a probowler. Daniels wasn't even being used as much in his natural position. And there's no way you can argue that Kordell should still be around... A name I'm surprised isn't on there... R.W. McQuarters. He's overpaid, lost his starting job, and only towards the end of the season actually contributed as a nickel back... I'm pretty sure the bears will draft CB in the first 3 rounds. And that should spell doom for RW too.
Chisoxfn
These are great moves. Holdman is very over-rated and is not due the 3 mill he is slotted to count against the Cap (600k base salary, plus 2.4 roster bonus) and Daniels isn't worth anything near what the Bears paid him. I think this does mean the Bears will add another end (I doubt they go after Kearse, but there could be a possibility and then the Bears would move Haynes to the inside). However, at the dt position, I think with Brob restructuring it means they won't address that high in the draft. At lb, I'd assume Odom will be the new starter and they will probably draft one (Baby Boulware) or go after a starter that gets cut elsewhere. The Bears are now about 16-18 mill under the cap (Counting Kordella, Brob and Daniels getting cut or dealt). They will probably restructure with Rdub and save a little more money and I think this is good news about Villy possibly being back. To me, the more o-lineman the better and the Bears are going to have a lot of money. I got to think they will make a run at Chad Clifton. SnB
It's good to see the bears striving toward being a good team for once. While this will save us tons of money, we better have a damn good offseason to make up for them. Daniels is just a waste of space, nowhere near worth the money he's getting. Holdman is decent, but again nowhere near the money.
