Queen Prawn
When you're from, say, Dominican, records are kept on napkins if at all. I am not sure how it is done now, but my great grand parents were from Poland and my great-grandmother didn't get hers until she was in her early teens, not too long before she left for America. No one was ever sure how accurate it was; she said there was at least a 2 year error on there.

After 9/11 not only baseball, but the US, the Dominican and other like countries tightened up pretty good. I am not saying it won't ever happen again, but it won't be nearly as common as it once was. That is what happened to Delvis (now Eddy) Lantigua last year after we traded him to the Yankees. He ended up being denied entry into the US for at least 2 months until they investigated who he was. Rex Hudler
Is this really big news that people from overseas lied about their age to increase their value as a prospect? Yeah Soriano did it, but he is far from the first or only one. Plus both teams knew about it. It really doesn't seem like a big deal to me. Didn't I just say that 7 posts back? You skimming again irish?

While it may not as extreme as I made it out to be, you really havem to inquire about how records and archives are kept in 3rd world countries. Birth certificates are "lost", doctored, switched, etc. Nastasia Kinski was believed to be 3 years younger than she really was and it wasn't uncovered until decades later. And she is from Germany, a 1st world country. Not Dominican or Congo. Black people in particular often look 5-7 years younger than they really are. Soriano look all of 16. I don't know if we will be able to tell the difference between Juan Cruz and Sammy Sosa in spring training. Off the juice!

Juice or no juice, I will still bet he hits at least 40 HR.
BrandoFan
Juice or no juice, I will still bet he hits at least 40 HR. Yeah there is a difference between Shammy, the Easy Roider who hits 55 hr, drives in 140 runs with a 1000+ OPS....and the skinny dude who hits 35 hr with 175 Ks and a 900 OPS. I'll take the latter to go.
WillieHarris2
juice or no juice wont matter that much because its not like not taking the juice is just going to instantly make him as small as he was before.
