CSF
Maddux signing with the Cubs. It was so funny that last night while listening to Julie Swieca's show on the Score, she originally said she was going to talk about Sox/Cubs season previews, but then she was instructed by Score program director Drew Hayes to talk strictly about Maddux joining the Cubs. And good Lord, you turn on ESPN 1000, the Score, hell even WBBM, and they're talking about Maddux! And of course, Mariotti, while gushing about Maddux, couldn't help but take another swipe at the Sox, mentioning that some caller called the whiner line on 1000 to complain to Mariotti about the Sox, and he goes "See, the White Sox, I just mentioned them", then continued with his Maddux lovefest. Not that the Sox have done anything to warrant talking, but enough's enough. It's gonna be a looooooong 6 weeks of spring training. The season can't start soon enough. Queen Prawn
I wouldn't expect anything different. I tend to avoid Chicago sports radio because it either annoys the hell out of me or puts me to sleep. And since I listen to the radio mostly in the car, neither of those effects are desired while being behind the wheel.
CSF
Well at least Boers & Bernstein to a point defended KW when a Cubs fan called to gloat about what the Sox haven't done. They said that KW could probably do more if he had access to a $90 million payroll.
winninguglyin83
the best news is that the Cubs better win because with all this talent, a genius manager and an unlimited checkbook, they go ZERO excuses.
CSF
Sportscenter just quoted that next to the Red Sox, no team has been cursed with more bad luck than the Scrubbies. Attaboy, ESPN, keep the myth going for them and sell more tickets for the Beer Garden. We've waited 87 years, but let's remember: We don't count. mike12345
I hate the Cubs just as much as anyone else, but what can they talk about with the sox....How many pinch hits Marvin Bernard will get this year?
Flash Tizzle
they go ZERO excuses. Almost. There's still the issue of day games, which Dusty feels puts a strenuous toll on his players. Once the Tribune is done battling with Wrigley Ville over this issue there will FINALLY be no excuses.
SnB
How can you blame them about talking about the cubs? What were they going to say about us?
CSF
How can you blame them about talking about the cubs? What were they going to say about us? I don't know. How about who the Bears are going to cut or sign via FA. Who the Bulls will trade by the deadline. Whether the Blackhawks will fade into oblivion, whether the Illini can overtake the Badgers for 1st place in the Big 10, whether the sky is blue............ANYTHING BUT THIS CUBS KOOLAID TALK! :puke
thomsonmi
:headshake :headshake Sometimes I'm glad that I can't get Chicago sports radio here in Boulder, Colorado. Of course, out here us Colorado football fans have our own daily dose of bad news going on. It couldn't possibly be worse right now than being a CU, Bears, White Sox, and Bulls fan. I dont know what the phrase "Hot Carl" means but I sure can wonder. You mean the same Mike Adamle that normally spends 2 1/2 minutes doing Cub highlights and less than 15 seconds on Sox ones? Yeah, I think I know who you're talking about.

sox-r-us
I do not get it....if you want everyone to talk about the Sox, show your ass at the ball park....if you spend, Jerry will spend and KW will build a winner....it is really that simple Get it? YASNY
baggio is right....the way this organization is being handled is totally wrong... Damn right it is. And like with any endeavor, you have to point to the man at the top, whether things are succussful or failed. JR has owned this team for close to a quarter century and still has not brought a championship to Chicago (Though his brilliant marketing strategies may be close to accomplishing that, indirectly, on the wrong side of town). You can't blame the various managers and GM's anymore for this. It all goes back to the ownership.
mike12345
These owners in baseball who complain about money loses are full of s***. If this is such a bad business why do these businessmen line up to buy a team? and also they have enough money for their lives....If the sox spent some cash and put a CONSISTENT team out there people would come... YASNY
The '83 Sox were the first team in Chicago to top 2 million in paid attendance. Let's see here ... dominant division champion and record attendance. Is there a correlation here? Based on the way JR has run this club, apparently not. quickman
This isn't the fans fault, its managments. That is what is just simple.
