WinningUgly2003
Gotta be in the $4.5 - $5 mil range. Doesn't matter we got our closer for 2!
Chisoxfn
Very Cool...I'm going to get a write up done quickly.
RedPinStripes
Good, I guess.............. If Koch can make 5 mill for an inning or 2, why cant Mark Buehrle get 6 mill for 20 wins? And if Colon is the #2 at 8mill, why isnt the ace at 10 mill? I'm glad they signed Koch, but i'm getting pissed off about the Buehrle situaton. i wish they'd just give him the money he deserves. If he really is on KW's s*** list then it ain't gonna happen unless JR goes over his head as in the FT signing.

Chisoxfn
Folks, I don't think he's on KW's s*** list, but on JR's s***list. Think, JR has his thing about signing pitchers to long term deals. He's had it for a while. He let Mcdowell walk, Alvarez go, Fernandez go, and JB go. Hopefully he doesn't let Buerhle go though, but we got him for a while and I'm going to enjoy it. Good move signing Koch, I wonder how much the deal is for; I'm guessing 2 yrs 10 mill.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Koch has yet to pitch one ball in a White Sox uniform and already gets a $10 million deal but MB, who's won 35 games for the Sox over the last two sesons, gets around $300,000. If this team doesn't start showing MB some goddamn respect I almost hope he goes where he's appreciated as fast as he can..... and if that's before 2006, so be it. CubKilla
He better not suck. That was the first thing that went through my mind when I logged onto the SoxNet homepage
Soxfest
So we payed Koch ,what Foulke was due. I liked Foulkes numbers better. Koch will take us on a roller coaster ride like Thigpen used to. Koch will throw a ton of pitches an inning LED AL Closers in thst last year.

If you would have asked me who before you posted that, I would have guessed Osuna

The big thing is, we now know we have Koch for at least one more year then Foulke, most likely two, unless we decide to deal him. Foulke would of walked at the end of the year and he never was happy to close. Koch is a guy that loves closing and wants the ball in the 9th. Plus, I like knowing the JM is going to use him as the closer. For all I know, JM would of screwed around with Foulke this season as well and that would of really hurt our bullpen. The reason Koch got this deal is that they were headed to arbitration. Regarding a few other points from this thread: 1. I think Foulke was due $6 Mil this year. 2. Koch signed a 2 year deal. He will still be arbitration eligible for 2005. We should still control his contract for 3 years. 3. I don't think JM will "tinker" in this case. Kock has "Closer" written all over him. I don't know...he probably will...this is the same guy that put Jose Valentin in CF....I could see him f***ing around with using Koch as a setup guy once a month....and he probably will. I hope he doesn't, but you never know with Manuel.
