Chisoxfn
"In the 3½ years I was here with Jerry, I don't think he cussed one time," pitcher Mark Buehrle said. "It seemed like every three words with Ozzie."
soxfan420
it may be funny to the fans, but is it pissing any of the players off?
C.Rector
Just goes to show just how Manuel was more of a man than Ozzie. Bevington, from what I've heard, used the F-word a lot too. More and more, Ozzie looks like Terry Bevington all over again.
Chisoxfn
I'd say it would get tired hearing it every few seconds, but I just thought the quote was hillarious. We'll just have to wait and see I guess. This will either really pay off, or really blow up, I don't think there is any middle ground, like there was with JM. baggio202
well see what kind of manager ozzie makes the day kenny williams walks in the clubhouse turning over tables and stuff like he did in cleveland one game...how does ozzie react??...does he stand by and let kenny rant and rave...or tell him to get the (fill in your own sentence enhancer ) out of my clubhouse.. if he stands by and does nothing then the players will lose respect for him just like they did for manuel...ozzie has to create an us vrs the world mentality..the US being him and his players...not upper management or anyone else..if he succeeds in that then the players will play for him and probably overcome most of his rookie mistakes JMO
Molto
umm, just because someone swears, doesn't make them like Bevington. If that were the case, there would be a s***load of Bevington's in the world. I swear, some people just want to find negativity in the stupidest goddamn things. greg775
I'm not worried about the cussing. Mark B obviously thought it was funny. I think Oz will do fine if he does the things Baggs says. I agree with Baggs. We haven't had spirit or unity in a while. It's gotta be us players and one manager against the world.
witesoxfan
I dont mind it, but you have to be able to use it right. Agreed. If you go around saying "You f***ing f***s, get the f*** to f***ing work f***ers", I know I'd lose my respect for the guy real quick. But you use it like most of us on here use it(and I'm hoping he does), then he'll be fine. Maybe Ozzie's swearing because he's a little nervous and that nervousness will go away with experience. Or maybe it will be good for the team and they will respond to it. Who the f*** f***ing cares, am I f***ing right or am I f***ing right? Do you really think Ozzie would have trouble doing something like that? I think Ozzie brings a fiery instensity to the game that sleepy Jerry never could. Pastime
Comparing Bevington to Guillen is like comparing a 2004 Corvette to a 1973 rusted-out Buick. Bevington was a moron - Guillen has baseball smarts and knowledge. Ozzie played the game for a long time, and I assure you that he s***-out more baseball knowledge in the toilet Saturday morning than Bevington will ever know. Ozzie knows the game. How well that translates to his performance as a manager remains to be seen. And if he cussed a blue streak, who cares? At least he has fire and passion, which is something the former manager didn't have if you lit his underwear on fire. Enough with the negative bulls*** already. Let's see what the first month of the season brings before we crucify Ozzie. It's the 3rd day of spring training, for cry's sake. Chill out! :headshake

Pastime
I could give two craps about the spring training record. As long as the team is feisty, hungry, aggressive, anxious, and rearing to go - it's all good. I have a feeling that once spring training is done, this team will be riding a wave of positivity they haven't seen in years. They will believe they can win - even if the "experts" say they can't. I used to love Gardenhire, and I liked Pena - but they can't match the enthusiasm or fire (real or not) of Ozzie. Let the game begin, fellas. Cali
I'm so pumped for this season, but it really seems like Spring Training gets excrutiating longer every year. They haven't even played one exhibition game yet! ARRRGH!!!

Everything that you said about Guillen was said of Bevington as well when he took over from Lamont in 1995. Knowledge of the game is what counts, not the alleged "fire" or whatever in the manager's personality. Both Lamont and Manuel had what it takes to be winners, while Bevington and thus far Guillen were nothing but blowhards with a grin.
Molto
yes, laughing, joking around and getting players pumped, what a horrible quality a manager should have. Bevington did all of this and now Guillien is following in his footsteps ... it's gonna be a long season. BTW, I don't know how to put this stuff in green, so for the record, I'm being very sarcastic.

More and more, Ozzie looks like Terry Bevington all over again. Not sure I understand how use or non-use of the "F-bomb" makes you more or less of a man. Some of the best, most honest and stand-up people I've ever know tossed around the F-bomb liberally. By the same token, I've known some hideous people who refused to swear, yet somehow did NOT refuse to cheat on their wives or threaten their kids with violence. IMO, use of "foul language" is not a fair barometer of the entirety of a person's character. I f***in' hope that little f***in' rant of mine makes some kind of f***in' sense to you f***s....
