SnB
Steff, I love HR's as much as the next fan, but I guess I'm "old school" because I also love the stolen base and slap hitters. Juan Pierre didn't have any HR's last year, but he was just so much fun to watch. That's what I'm hoping to see from Willie Harris this year. I could care less if he hits 1 HR - as long as Willie is getting on base and flying around the basepaths, that's exciting to me, and I will love watching the team even more if that comes to fruition. If Willie can just hit .270 with a .350 OBP, he could steal 50 + bases. And Ozzie will probably give him the green light and let him fly whenever he wants. It could be fun. We can only hope that it happens the way it does when I close my eyes and dream. That's exactly my viewpoint too, if willie can be a pierre-castillo type for us, it makes us THAT much better. Pastime
The nice thing about Willie is that he's one of the few guys in the game who can actually outrun the arm of I-Rod, who is in our division now, in case you didn't hear. The guy can flat out fly. However, the old addage is "you can't steal first." I would have Willie choke up on a light bat and just slap the ball. He's our "Willie Mays Hayes" - I HOPE. Steff
PT.. did you happen to see Billy Crystal's into last night when he said "I can't believe the Yankees got ARod!"..??
Pastime
I caught the last hour of the show - the wife and I were up in Michigan having a nice weekend. Besides, the last hour is all that's worth watching anyways - or maybe the last 15 minutes. Did you see Cal Ripken on SportsCenter? He was talking about moving from SS to 3rd, and it doesn't sound like an easy transition. I give it 2 months before A$$Rod is b****ing and complaining. He's going to get hit in the nads quite a few times, he's going to have bruises on his chest like he's never seen before, and he's going to be diving all over the place. Like I said, I give it 2 months. But it's not our problem - it's THEIR problem. Let them rot with it.
southsideirish
I suppose certain findings about certain players' personal information that are posted by certain posters are always "well documented."

Especially for a player of his caliber being told he has to switch positions. A player that is used to being in the middle of the field and always involved in the game now has to play a corner position. It will take a lot of getting used to. Then again, if I was a Yankees fan I wouldn't mind having this "problem."
soxman352000
Paulie will be just fine this year and he will have a great season at the plate.
CSF
Konerko said he doesn't have a degenerative hip condition, and if he's had any hip problem, he's had it since he's been in the big leagues. I think last year was just a bad year for him. Even so, 18 HR/65 RBI wasn't all that bad. They weren't his normal numbers, but still not bad nevertheless. I'd be happy with .250/25/95. YASNY
You look at PK's numbers from 99 through 02 and they are very solid and consistant. He had one terrible half-season and that's it. He'll hit.
Steff
I suppose certain findings about certain players' personal information that are posted by certain posters are always "well documented." Hurry, hurry.. the "report this post" button is up there... ------------> :dips***
southsideirish
I thought it wasn't good to want to know about player's personal lives or report about them? Who would ever report such things? Not a reputable source of course, because personal lives shouldn't matter to anyone. And I am the antagonistic 2 year old?
