WSoxShuf
What is going to occur in two days. Deese,Kearse,Jones???????
Gene Honda Civic
CLIFTON, PLease CLIFTON Also i saw a list of the top 50 FA's and i noticed Villareal listed at #12 or 13... They need to keep the core O-line and add a good tackle
southsider2k5
That Jones guy (Tampa RB)sounds like someone that Angelo is going to go after. Also I wouldn't be surprised if Lovie tried to make a move after Grant Winstrom.

Chisoxfn
They are supposedly going to go after Jones, sign Robert Young (DT of the Rams) and then I think they will make a push at a tackle. Most likely they will sign Villy if he doesn't get a huge offer from another team. After that I think you'll see the Bears maybe make a push at Kearse, although its no guarantee. SnB
I've heard that the bears really want Jones, I don't think he should be so high atop their list, but what do i know? And getting kearse would be absolutely fantastic.
ninetyfour
I dont think the Bears should touch Kearse, he is way overrated an hasnt done anything since his rookie year. Jevon Kearse is a monster when healthy. He'll get his 20 million dollar signing bonus from someone, but not the Bears. He's not overrated. He's one of the best defensive ends in the game, not quite as good as Strahan, Taylor, or Freeney, but just as good as anyone else. He's right there with Julius Peppers, Simeon Rice, etc.

Let's hope that he has more sense than to go after an Arizona Cardinals reject. You could make an argument that the Bucs had the most putrid running game in the NFL last year after Alstott got injured. That's what happens when you go after Arizona Cardinals rejects like Thomas Jones and Michael Pittman. Robert Young? He was one of three first round picks that the Rams used on defense three years ago, correct? I think that it was him, Polley, and Archuletta. Only the latter two have really worked out. We should have just kept Ted Washington last year & used the fourth overall pick on that Robertson kid who the Jets selected. He didn't do too well as a rookie, but he's a huge overpowering run stuffer in the same mold as Big Ted, Sam Adams, and that Haynesworth kid on Tennessee. That's what we need up the middle if we're going to make it possible for Urlacher to roam from sideline to sideline, which is what he is built for. It appears as though Columbo might never work out. Rex Tucker always gets injured. We need to use that 18 million we have and resign Villareal, first and foremost. Then we need to pick up an offensive tackle on the free agent market. With whatever's left, we need a fullback that can block, and a #2 corner. As far as the draft is concerned, we need defensive and offensive tackles. I'd also be in favor of trading up to grab a running back, but only if we resign Villareal and sign a competent offensive tackle.
whitesoxin'
It seems like the Freak and Jones are the two they are in hot pursuit of, according to ESPN. I would like to see another O-Lineman come in and help protect Grossman.
DBAHO
Clifton was franchised so it'll be hard for da Bears to sign him this offseason. Todd Wade from Miami could be another option I think. I wouldn't touch Thomas Jones, da guy won't play hard at all if he gets a big payday which he really doesn't deserve. U guys will hav a really good chance to sign Wistrom but I heard otha teams like Dallas r very hot on him too.
israel4ever
What about that DE from Miami? I think his name is Agunlele, or something like that. He had 15 sacks in 2002 AND 2003!
MurcieOne
I think Jones is a interesting guy to get if we can get him without spending to much. Former 1st round pick had 3 Td's and a 4.6 average last year. He also can catch passes outta the back field. only 25 years old, could end up blossming in a RB friendly scheme. Again... not unless we get him for what he's worth or less.
Gene Honda Civic
Fred Russel... He will be available in the third round. He is the Perfectcompliment to A-train. He will be cheap. Kiper's notes Fred Russell, Iowa -- His 40 time of 4.46 showed the necessary speed for a somewhat undersized back. Early in the morning the final group of running backs took to the field. Diminutive Fred Russell of Iowa again proved he belongs with the big boys and was the best of the ball carriers. Timing well in the 40, Russell looked terrific in all the running back drills then capped the session by looking seamless as a pass catcher out of the backfield. It may be tough to overlook the 5-foot 7-inch Russell, but it's just another interesting story here in Indianapolis as the 2004 NFL Scouting Combine winds down. I'm fairly well known for being an Iowa fan around here, but I'd love to see us pick this guy up if he's available in the 3rd round or later. (I wanted Quinten Griffin in the same spot last year, he may end up getting a bulk of the carries in Denver this season)

I think that we still should look into Kevin, or Thomas Jones... but if they're not viable options, this Russell kid is definitely worth a look. It will cost a 1st round draft pick and a 3rd round draft pick to sign Ogunleye. Big price tag, although I think 1 team who is desperate for a pass rush like da Bears could be willin to pay that price.

knightni
Jevon Kearse is a monster when healthy. That's a huge IF unfortunately. Too bad most "F/A" OTs were designated franchise or transition players.

Russel is a fearless runner and he always was able to handle the burden with the Hawkeyes. I think he'd be an outstanding pick. I also do like Thomas Jones upside if the price is right. I think the Bears will deal AT, draft a back late and sign Thomas Jones.
Chisoxfn
That's a huge IF unfortunately. Too bad most "F/A" OTs were designated franchise or transition players. He missed one full season and then came back the next year and late in the season got beaten up. OTherwise, he's really alot more durable then people give him credit for. Thomas Jones, Kearse, Robert Young and an OT like Efram Salaam and I'd be very happy with the Bears offseason.

DBAHO
Baltimore, Dallas, the Raiders and I'm sure a few other teams would be interested as well, maybe even the Bucs. Dallas already has a A-Train clone in Troy Hambrick, and I think Parcells really wants Thomas Jones or Duce Staley and draft a rookie in the 2nd or 3rd round to take ova in 2005/2006. Raiders could be interested if they lose Garner, but I've heard he could stay with em afta all.

Its quite obvious that he doesn't fit in with the Bears scheme, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't fit in somewhere else. Heck, how about the Patriots. They have been looking for a back and Atrain is easily as good of a player as Greg Jones, who has been rumored as a potential Patriot selection.
