CubsSuck1
This is the email newsletter I got from J Hood's website... From: The J Hood Show What's up playa's? I wanted to drop you a line and update you on a few things. I like being able to communicate with you because I can tell you things about the show or The Score before anyone else knows. First off, Julie Swieca. Last week, Julie Swieca resigned from her position at WSCR as talk show host. There has been a lot of speculation about why she quit and really there shouldn't be. From what I understand, Julie really wanted to stay in the field and report. Drew Hayes (program director) wanted her to be a talk show host based on her great Sunday morning show that she did. She wasn't very happy in her position because of the behind the scenes politics that come with the position. I felt very close to Julie because we arrived at the Score at the same time in 1994, so it was sad to see her leave. The truth is, she left her position to persue other opportunities including going back to school; something that we have discussed for awhile. The Monday night that she came back to the station to clean out her desk was the happiest and the most relieved that I've seen her in quite sometime. She wasn't fired, she didn't have a contract problem---she resigned. I find it funny that everytime that something happens with any of the nightime shows, I get blamed for the circumstances from certain people. When Les was fired, I filled in for him until they found a replacement- I got blamed for firing him. When Tommy was let go, I was blamed for not renewing his contract. When Jiggetts contract wasn't renewed, I apparantly stabbed him in the back. Now as they find a replacement for Julie, I guess I got rid of her. I will be glad when the masses start blaming management for these decisions. Which brings me to this- starting Monday March 8th, I was told yesterday that I will have my show extended from 6:30 til 11 p.m. I really don't know who will be Julie's replacement, but I can tell you that an update anchor will be on after my show until a decision is made. Remotes: I will broadcast live from Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, NV on Friday March 12th from 6:30-11 to promote the Winky Wright/Sugar Shane Mosley fight. March 14th- Broadcasting Live from Durty Nellies in Palatine (180 N. Smith) for the Score's Selection Sunday Show! I will anchor the coverage from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with former Bull and Score Basketball Expert Stacy King and Larry Farmer-Loyola coach (tentative). We will have guests from throughout the state and the country talking about the NCAA tourney brackets and take your phone calls. Listen in or come out and join us at Durty Nellies! April 2nd-5th- Broadcasting live from San Antonio, Texas for the NCAA Tournament. Jason Goff and I will bring you the best guests from college programs across the country. Friday's show- 6:30-11 p.m.-Saturday- 10-2:50 p.m. Sunday (tentative) & Monday after the Championship game til 1 am. We always have a fun time taking your calls on college basketball so make sure that you check in while we are in San Antonio! Thursday Night Slam- Aptil 12th- after Raw is War at the Allstate Arena, I will take your phone calls on the show. If your going to see Raw live or watch it on television check in at 10:05 after the show is over!!!! April 29th looks like the first opportunity that I will have to open up the phone lines full time on pro wrestling. If there is a Sox or Cubs game that falls into that 9:00 time slot for post game we will cancel the segment. Last week was fun to come back to the Late night. "Score Hello" or "My fantasy" or whatever you want to call that nonsense we do at 12:45 am never sounded better. It was fall out your chair funny. Lastly, in the month of April, jhoodshow.com will supply audio clips of the show. thursdaynightslam.com will supply wrestling interviews. Interviews that you might have missed or soundbites of the show that we play can be heard very soon on this website so keep clicking on the website for that. Thanks for the support of the show and the websites and remember Hawks season is over March 17th!!! Hollaatchaplaya! C.Rector
While I didn't like her show a whole lot, its also clear that this J. Hood version is a lot of nonsense. It was reported by Robert Feder in his Sun-Times column that the reason for her resignation was over the control of her show's content. Remember, the week before her resignation, she had been ordered by Drew Hayes to drop the subject matter that she had already announced on the show in favor of only talking about Greg Maddux all the time. J. Hood is doing a whitewash for WSCR management.
