Cali
http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...tesox-headlines Will basically be our first chance to see what the line-up should look like regularly, except Sandy will be catching. And it would be the exact Opening Day line-up in KC again sans Sandy, and Danny Wright is pitching. Harris Valentin Thomas Ordonez Lee Konerko Crede Rowand Alomar Something about 7 right handed hitters in a row worries me.

Although, I would like to see Carlos in the 2 slot with Konerko after Maggs, if Paulie returns to All-Star form, and Jose in the 6th spot. Like you said too many righties in a row. Pastime
Something about 7 right handed hitters in a row worries me. It doesn't seem to bother the Cubs, and they are "World Series Contenders." And it also didn't bother the Marlins much, and they won the whole thing even though their lineup was right-handed from 3-9 in the order (unless Willis pitched). That's the least of our worries. Our rotation is the main cause for concern, IMO. Our lineup doesn't concern me much, and our bullpen doesn't concern me much either. It's our 3-5 starters that make me want to buy stock in Rolaids. DonkeyKongerko
An article on Tribune website says that Scott was throwing ALOT of changeups yesterday (Sunday) because it is his new pitch. Obviously it's not quite working yet. For Monday, anybody know who is starting for the A's? I guess I'll find out soon enough.

I agree. The pitching staff is what i'm focusing on this spring. I think our offense will be fine.

DBAHO
Vs. Athletics at 2:05 p.m. Monday.Dan Wright will make his second start against impressive young Oakland right-hander Rich Harden. Damn the A's r gonna hav a great rotation this year. If healthy, Hudson, Mulder and Zito are all very capable of winnin 20 games each. Harden could hav a breakout year, his first full one in the majors, although I heard rumors that if Rhodes fails as a closer, Harden could be moved there. They also have Duroscher and Mark Redman who they got to replace Ted Lilly. I'd prefer to see Rowand up at #2 instead of Jose, hopefully Borchard will be back soon from that injury of his as well. Texsox
At what point does Ozzie look seriously at Frank in the #3 spot? If Frank isn't hitting around .300 and Maggs is, I would be strongly in favor of a switch. For most of last year I thought that would be a good switch, even though Frank would complain about getting no respect. I like to see a little more spped and average in the #3 spot. Don't know what the infatuation is with Valentin batting above 7 in the lineup v. lefties OR righties. The only changes I would make are ARow and CLee taking chances in the 2 hole. I know it's on a different thread but... NO WAY do you move Frank. 1. Regardless of his average, he draws way too many walks (direct correlation with Maggs batting 4) than anyone else would. 2. Frank's BA is less of a concern than is his OBP. 3. Frank hits for power and pitchers still FEAR him regardless of his low BA. Keep 3-5 the way it is. mac9001
Plus, Mags had a s*** load of DP last year. Not something you want out of your #3 hitter (or your #4). Frank > Mags, for now.

I think thats a perfect reason TO put Maggs in the 3 hole. The one thing that Thomas still does well is get on base with a high walk total. That means he will be on 1B a lot of the time, which is one of the reasons why Maggs has so many DP. However, if you switch them, than you would probably have fewer DP's because Thomas hits more flyballs than Maggs.
YASNY
This is still the first week of spring training games. I don't think our starting line up is carved in stone yet. Then again, it hasn't been carved in stone for at least 6 years.
