CWSGuy406
Sorry, no linky, I saw it on ESPN News. I think this guy can provide something to our D, he is a playmaker, though he is getting older. However, I do not want to overpay for him. If we can get him on a reasonable 2-3 year deal, I hope he signs. But, I wouldn't be devastated if he went elsewhere. The plus is that he'd take a lot of pressure off of Haynes and Alex Brown, and most importantly Urlacher. Plus I think he'd fit into Lovie's scheme, he's pretty fast for a small fat guy. Thoughts? P.S. I really hope the Chiefs do not match our offer. There are no FAs that are even close to his caliber on the market, and Gallery will not fall to us. Gene Honda Civic
The talks with Sapp's agent are really only if the Tait deal falls through. I think that after the Tait deal, the TJ deal, and the money set aside to sign the incoming rookie class, the bears only have in the vicinity of $3MIL left. That could be adjusted, as RW is either going to restructure his contract, or face being cut after June 1.
Chisoxfn
Supposedly the Bears will only go after Sapp if they don't get into a bidding war. They are going to let him find his market and then talk to him I think and if they can find a way to do it they will. Remember, they could backend the deal a little more towards next year, since Tait is taking up so much this year, but very little the rest of the way. That is exactly what I was going to say. They tried to make sure that KC couldn't match their offer, because they are up against the cap this year. It also means that they still have room to go after another D man.
DBAHO
Sapp wants more than the $14 mill signin bonus Grant Wistrom got. He won't be going to the Bears.

southsider2k5
Has there been any new news on where Sapp is looking at going? Are the Bears still in the picture?
