CWSOX45
cl:koch su:marte su:shingo politte mike jackson wunsch grilli adkins or sanders Something tells me Ozzie is going to go with 12 pitchers instead of 11. The Sox seem really high on Jason Grilli, and don't want to give him up. I think our rotation will be 1.Loazia 2. Buehrle 3. Show 4. Garland 5. Wright Pen: Grilli Wunsch Jackson Politte Takatsu Marte Koch That's a pretty good group of pitchers in that pen. CWSOX45
BridgeportHeather
I think Shingo will out-duel Koch for the closer spot...Koch and Marte will be setup men...Wunsch, Glover, and Adkins should make the team as well...The rest is up for grabs, imho. SoxAce
Just flip-flop Garland and Shoey and that's basically it.

DBAHO
If Jackson keeps pitching like he did closing out against the Giants, I think he'll be in the pen. Also agree about Grilli, him or Wright will be a long reliever, which eva way they decide to go.
Capn12
Heres my setup of the pen: LH Specialist: Kelly Wunsch RH Specialist: Mike Jackson LH Setup: Damaso Marte RH Setup: Shinjo Takatsu RH: Cliff Politte RH Long Reliever: Jason Grilli Closer: Billy Koch Depends on who Ozzie decides is the 5th starter, which at this point should definately be Danny Wright till he proves otherwise. I can certainly live with that bullpen at this point. Getting Marte/Takatsu/Koch at the end of a game could be a great thing for Sox fans. Flash Tizzle
Geez, major mishap on my part! I think I should step away from the Algebra I and Algebra II textbooks for a while...LOL! Your second mistake was assuming Shingo would battle for the closer spot. He has been absolutey dreadful this spring, and today might of been the first 1-2-3 inning he has pitched through 12 games (and this was achieved against a Giants "B" lineup.) f***ing Botch hasn't impressed me much either. Rotoworld seems to share my sentiment: http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...ort=MLB&id=6218

Rotoworld seems to share my sentiment: http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...ort=MLB&id=6218 I think Koch could throw 250 MPH and strike out 6 guys per inning, and some of you wouldn't be happy. WTF...so he isn't throwing 98 MPH now. Did you watch him pitch today? Koch is spotting his breaking pitch perfectly off the outside of the plate to righties, and not hanging any fastballs dead center of the plate. Deal with it, Billy is our man, and as long as he gets guys out without giving up runs, he should be.....whether he throws 90 MPH, or 290 MPH. EvilJester99
I think the biggest problem with Billy Chaos is that he actually use to throw 100MPH. If he only threw 95 the whole time noone would even think twice about the velocity problem. I would rather him throw 93 - 95 with good movement, than his 98 and straight as an arrow fastball. I don't think Billy will be that bad this year. As for Shingo, he looks to have some really good stuff, but he needs to start out more throwing first pitch strikes and using his fastball more often. CWSGuy406
I dont have confidence in Danny Wright as our fifth starter. I'd rather see Rauch get a chance to be our fifth starter, Wright's been given every opportunity to succeed in that damn fifth starter spot and hasn't shown anything. Reddy
i dunno, sometimes it takes guys a while to get settled in, and from what i've seen so far this spring danny has started to settle in nicely. i think that wright will do well for us this year
OZZ-fest 2004
Does anybody think that Takatsu hasn't showed off his best pitches yet? I remember KW saying that he had some pretty unbelievable movement and that they really didn't want to show it off during spring training games, especially against the A.L. teams. EvilJester99
I wouldn't doubt it. During the telecast yesterday I believe it was Hawk that said Barry Bonds sent an email to KW saying that Takatsu had the most movement on his pitches he has ever seen. Now I think that saying something.

(that and I never really liked him or Rauch ) But we'll see what he does in his first couple starts first then we can see if he's still the answer. JMO. We brought him on to bring the heat. KW said something to the extent of 'We brought Billy on board because he is more of a closer type', or something like that(IIRC) right after he made the deal. What has he exhibited to us thus far? A fastball that tops out of 95 when he's throwing well, and usually right around 92-93. He has to have a very big season to be worth the $6 mill he's making. SoxAce
He showed me 14 wins in 2002 when he was healthy. I have plenty of confidence in Danny Wright. Sure 14 wins but with a 5+ era. That could had been alot worse if he didn't pitch well during the end of the second half that season. He gives up too much homeruns in my liking. Very little confidence I have for him.
