Cy Young Porzio
damn michael put down 45 points in a wizards win tonight! its so amazing that he can still do it in his 40s. No player now or soon, that when they turn 40, will be able to still play like that. Once again, he goes out and proves he is still great. The Critic
Michael Jordan is still a VERY good basketball player, which you would NOT know if all you listened to were the so-called "experts" who write stories for a living. To hear them tell it, he's just like Willie Mays when he played for the Mets - an old, ineffective, washed-up has-been. This is simply NOT THE CASE. Is he what he was? No. Does he drop 40+ every night, or even once a week? No. But what he is, is a damn good basketball player who has a great head for the game, and someone who simply loves to compete. As far as the "he should have quit when he hit the title-winning shot" argument, WHY? Because YOU thought it's how he should end his career? Who has the right to tell anyone how to live their lives? I hear people talk about John Elway, and how he retired "as a champion". Well, by their logic, he should have quit after the FIRST Super Bowl he won, and he DIDN'T. To listen to the "go out on top" people, Elway should never have the chance to enjoy the 2nd title. It's ridiculous - just like the idea that Jordan "only" scoring 17 points a game on average somehow makes his 6 NBA titles disappear or something. It's a brainless argument, in my opinion. Chisoxfn
Jordan could still probably score 26 or so a game if he wanted to. He doesn't want to though. He wants to be a guy that helps the younger players as he can make them all so much better with his passing etc. He still looks very similar, but you can see the rust and age. Still, near the end with the Bulls, he wasn't exactly dunking all over the place, he was more of a shooter, and he was still the best player in the NBA then. I dont think less of him for continuing but there are a few reasons I woulda finished my career with that title winning shot. First, it would be great to go out on top. And it woulda kept him loyal. If I went like 15 years with one team and I was 40 years old at the end of a brilliant career I would call it quits. Rather than be traded and go to my second team. But its Jordans life and I can still respect him for just loving the game...
