Heads22
Sox Option Six by Alex Ernst March 15, 2004 FutureSox.com Earlier today, Sox management and manager Ozzie Guillen optioned six players in an attempt to pare the squad down before leaving Tucson. The Sox optioned former Rule V draft pick Francisco Campos to minor league camp, optioned pitchers Arnie Munoz and Enemencio Pacheco to Charlotte, and sent pitchers Ryan Meaux, Ryan Wing and infielder Ruddy Yan to Double-A Birmingham. These moves leave 44 on the big league roster. The option of Campos, who was considered as a contender for the fifth starter at one point, seemed to have come on the heels of a five run performance against Anaheim. Campos is now expected to pitch for Campeche of the Mexican League.
CSF
I thought Munoz's chances of making the big league roster were slim, but today's outing may have clinched it. Though in his defense, he got no help from his fielders.

But most of them were from the players who won't make it to the bigs this season anywayz.

The Sox were leading in most of the games till late when the minors came in and then poor play caused the losses.
DBAHO
I'm pretty confident Munoz will hav a good year in Charlotte. He was really overworked last offseason in the Winter League, and I think he's a lot fresher now.
Chisoxfn
I like Munoz, he's going to be pretty good. He still has somethings to work on and I wouldn't be surprised if he found himself pitching well in Chicago at some point this year.
Bullard
Just what we need, more freaking pitchers in minor league camp!!! Every where you look there are pitchers. We have at least 2 guys for every roster spot available for the 4 affiliates that begin in April. THere are basically 48 spots on those 4 teams for pitchers and we have 80 something dudes fighting for those spots. This is the first spring training I've been to that that has been the case. Something major is gonna have to go down, ie. trades, releases or deaths, to minimze the amount of guys in camp.
ChiSox_Sonix
ya we have a lot of pitchers right now and more to follow with so many competing for the last couple spots on the staff. Where do you think you'll start out the year Bullard?

That's why there's a very good possibility I think a trade might go down say the Benson for Rauch and Stewart deal. Anyways we're all pulling for ya Bull to hav a great season, so best of luck to ya. dasox24
Bullard, are you more upset at the fact that y'all get less time to pitch w/ all these other guys or do you think some old minor league guy might take away a spot from a younger guy that you think could be good? Also, do you have any idea of where you'll be playing this year? Good luck this upcoming year!! It's good to see our Sox minor leaguers on the board. Hopefully more will come! Bullard
Thanks guys for encouragement. It looks as if I will be back in Birmingham as the left handed setup guy in the pen. It also seems that Meaux, Baj, Smitty, Stumm, and newcomer to AA, Josh Fields, will also be in the pen with me. But I think that something will go down before this spring is said and done. There will be some kind of trade, minor or major leaguers, to free up some spots in the org. for the plethera (did I spell that right?) of pitching depth that we have. I dont have a problem going back the BHAM because 1. I need to put up some great numbers this year and I already have been in the Southern League once so I know what to expect, and 2. the Hoover Met is the best pitchers park in minor league baseball. It is gonna be a fun year in Bham and we should have some depth and a good chance to win it all.

Bullard
Fastball, slider, changeup. Fastball is in the 86-90 range. Slider is 76-78 and changeup is 74-77. I also throw sidearm now from the left side, a la Kelly Wunsch.
